An all electric taxi fleet, adding environmental education in the school syllabus and making environmental impact assessments and other reports public - these were some of the suggestions from around 40 students, professionals and other members of the public, during a latest public discussion on making Singapore more sustainable.
A first in a three part forum - Conversations on Sustainable Singapore - the event was held yesterday at the Singapore Management University (SMU), organised by Green Future Solutions, environmental consultants of Nature Society (Singapore), and SMU Verts - SMU's green club.
According to The Sunday Times, the Conversations aim to yield specific ideas and solutions from participants, and complement other environment realted public dialogues, such as those by the Singapore Environment Council, cited Mr. Eugene Tay of Green Future Solutions.
The feedback gathered will be compiled and sent to the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources for the ministry's national review this year of the Sustainable Singapore Blueprint.
