COE Results September 2024 2nd Bidding: Still going up!

The second round of bidding for September saw Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums climbing across all private car categories. This session, Cat E saw the largest climb, rising by a total of $6,203.

With Cars@Expo set to arrive once again in October, dealers here may be securing Cat E COEs in anticipation of increased sales.

Cat A COE - Still climbing steadily upwards

Premiums for Cat A, for cars up to 1,600cc in engine capacity and with an output of no more than 130bhp or electric vehicles with a power output of up to 110kW, climbed again this session. This time, the increase totalled $2,034 (2.1%) bringing the premium for the category to a total of $98,524.

The current premium now stands at 9.7% above the 12-month trailing average. The total number of number of bids submitted exceeded the number of successful bids this round by 39%, lower lower than the 12-month average of 55% for the category.

Cat B COE - Also making upward gains

Premiums for Cat B, for larger cars with more than 130bhp or engine displacements larger than 1,600cc or electric vehicles with a power output of more than 110kW, also climbed upwards this session. This session saw premiums for the category climb by $3,701 (3.5%) to reach $110,001.

This climb means the current premium for the category is now just 0.2% below the 12-month trailing average. The total number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the quota available by 33%. This is lower than the 12-month average figure for the category of 54%.

Cat C C0E - Holding steady

Premiums for Cat C, for goods vehicles and buses, slipped this session by just $1 (0.0%) to close at $74,000. The number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the available quota by 47%, lower than the 12-month average for this category of 67%.

Cat E COE - This session's strongest climber

Premiums for Cat E, the open category saw the highest total climb this session, rising by a total of $6,203 (5.8%) to reach $113,104.

The current premium for the category has now climbed to reach 0.4% above the 12-month trailing average. The total number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the quota available by 116%. This is significantly than the 12-month average figure for the category of 81%.

Prevailing Quota Premium

The Prevailing Quota Premium is the amount to be paid for COE renewal and is computed from the moving average of the previous three-months of COE prices. Those looking to renew the COE on their cars will thus have to pay the following prices for the respective months.
