Mazda has revealed a new Mazda2 Hybrid for Europe.
The new hatchback is set to go on sale throughout the continent from early 2022 and brings self-charging full hybrid powertrain technology to the Mazda model range for the first time.
The supermini combines a 1.5-litre 92bhp three-cylinder petrol engine with a 79bhp electric motor for a total system power of 114bhp.
This output will allow Mazda's new hybrid to accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 9.7 seconds. A fuel economy of up to 26km/L is claimed based on the WLTP combined cycle.
The Mazda2 Hybrid's long 2,560 mm wheelbase is said to offers comfortable accommodation for up to four adults, while boot space for the model stands at 286 litres. It is available throughout Europe in a choice of three grades: 'Pure', 'Agile', and 'Select', and has a maximum five-star Euro NCAP crashworthiness rating.
