In conjunction with its exclusive dealer Cycle & Carriage Industries Pte Limited, Mercedes-Benz Singapore has launched its highly anticipated Mercedes-AMG GT S as well as the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 and C 63 S, which was previously known as the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG.
The Mercedes-AMG GT S is the second sports car developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG after the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Up front, the long bonnet and its striking powerdomes sitting on top of a three-dimensional diamond radiator grille makes up the car's vehement demeanour.
The icing on the cake is the A-wing with front splitter, an performance-inspired addition that further enhances stance and wideness of the car. At the rear, aesthetics are enhanced with expressive taillight graphics and a black diffuser insert with tailpipes integrated into the bumper.
Its sporty and palatial design extends into the cabin, an exciting interplay behind the deep, sloping dashboard and a dominant, arched high centre console design which evokes emotion and impresses with its quality.
Mercedes-AMG has newly a developed front-mid mounted 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine for the GT S that delivers a whopping 510bhp. It is the world's first sports car to feature an engine with 'hot inside V' and dry sump lubrication. Three different electronically controlled damping modes are available, the Comfort, Sport and Sport plus to cater to different roads and different driving moods.
Behind the Mercedes-AMG GT S sat the all new Mercedes-AMG C 63 S. The new C 63 S also looks just as good as it performs. The front end has been heavily modified and widened (15.24mm broader than the regular C-Class). The rear of the car is home to a decklid spoiler, a multi-finned diffuser, topped off with four chromed exhaust finishers.
The car retains its name despite ditching the previous 6.3-litre engine for a new 4.0-litre V8 that is relative to that in the GT S, its unrivalled low fuel consumption of 8.2L/100km champions it as the most economical eight-cylinder car in the high-performance segment.
The 510bhp powerplant launches the C 63 S from 0 to 100km/h in a mere four seconds. A key contributing factor to its performance is the AMG Speedshift MCT 7-Speed sports transmission. Thorougly revised, the transmission responds a lot more directly to all gearshift commands and varies in intensity depending on the AMG Dynamic Select transmission mode.
There are four modes to select from, namely the Comfort, Sport, Sport +, RACE (only available in the C 63 S) and individual mode. In the exclusive RACE mode, the transmission is configured to maintain an optimum engine speed in the lowest possible gear when hitting the track. Response and acceleration is more immediate while gearshifts are even more rapid and responsive.
The 'Edition 1' model that was on display had special styling features such as matte-black wheels with red trims, black leather seats with red diamond stitching, red seatbelts, a flat-bottom faux-suede-wrapped steering wheel with Edition 1 badging, and more.
