Pagani sends off the Zonda nameplate with the ultimate track focused Zonda

Despite several announcements, the Pagani Zonda did not formally end its production run - with special editions and exclusive bespoke creations extending the life cycle of the former flagship. That being said, the Zonda Revolucion is said to be a 'farewell' model from Pagani and is the fastest incarnation of the Zonda yet - derived from the ultimate Zonda R track car who currently holds the fastest lap time at the Nurburgring (for a non-road legal vehicle).
At £2.2 million (S$4.24 million) a piece, there are only five track-only Zonda Revolucion available - two more than the uber exclusive Lamborghini Veneno - with four out of five Revolucion's already sold. The Revolucion was unveiled to Pagani's clients during the ninth running of its 'Vanishing Point 2013 - International Pagani' gathering.
The power from the 6.0-litre V12 transfers to the tarmac via a six-speed sequential gearbox that changes gear in just 20 milliseconds, while the car also features a Bosch-developed 12-stage traction control system and a lighter F1-derived carbon-composite brakes from Brembo, on top of a new ABS system.
On top of the mechanical updates, aerodynamic tweaks are also featured on the Revolucion in the form of winglets on the front bumper and an F1-style Drag Reduction System (DRS) rear wing. At the push of a button, the DRS system can switch between high-drag or high-speed modes at speeds above 99km/h. Holding the button longer allows the car to automatically switch between the modes based on Pagani programmed algorithms.
Weighing slightly more than a tonne, the Revolucion is lighter than the Zonda R by 34kg thanks largely to the carbon-titanium monocoque and because it weighs about the same as a Volkswagen Polo, it has a power to weight ratio of 748bhp per tonne. With no performance figures disclosed, the Zonda Revolucion is expected to shave off the 3.0 second century sprint timing of the Zonda R and eclipse its 374km/h top speed.
