Porsche has marked the production of its two millionth vehicle at its Leipzig plant.
The milestone car was a Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid, finished in Madeira Gold Metallic and headed to a customer in Dubai. The Porsche Leipzig plant was opened in 2002, although it would have to wait before the installation of a new body construction plant and paint shop in 2013 before it was considered a full factory that built models in their entirety, from the construction of the body to the final assembly.
Porsche's Leipzig plant is said to already have achieve carbon neutral status, and is set to see production of a future Macan, complete with combustion-powered, hybrid, and all-electric drivetrains, all manufactured on a single production line.
Porsche states that Leipzig plant currently employs 4,400 people and builds 550 examples of the current Macan and the updated Panamera every day.
