In the second round of bidding for July, COE prices fell for Cat A and B, while premiums for Cat E saw a minimal increase.
The drop in premiums for Cat A and B could be a result of a declining interest in new car purchases, as suggested by the declining number of bids across all categories. The number of bids received reached an all-time high at the last bidding session as new car purchases awaiting their COEs were accumulated through the entire circuit breaker period. The number of unsuccessful bids will continue to drop with each bidding round as the quota for May and June of 2020 continues to be divided between the bidding rounds until June of 2021.
