Taxi drivers using M1 can pay GrabTaxi fees via handphone bill

Local telecommunications firm M1 has tied up with GrabTaxi to save taxi drivers a trip to GrabTaxi's offices. Local cabbies using the popular taxi booking smartphone app can now pay GrabTaxi's fees via their M1 bills, the app maker announced yesterday.

The smartphone app, the second largest taxi network in Singapore, connects passengers to nearby taxi drivers and charges a small fee for bookings made through its app. 

M1's Chief Marketing Officer, P. Subramaniam, told The Straits Times the firm is pleased to work with the app developers to allow tech-savvy taxi drivers to top up their GrabTaxi credits more conveniently.

GrabTaxi's General Manager, Lim Kell Jay, added that the app maker's focus was always to ensure its users have the best possible experience - and this extends to making the system 'as simple as possible' for both passengers and drivers.

Taxi drivers who top up their GrabTaxi credits using M1's service will receive 20 percent bonus credits for each $10, $30 or $50 top-up. To commemorate the partnership, the first 10,000 M1 customers who book a taxi ride with the app between today and the 31^st of May will also enjoy a $3 discount.
