The first copy of a recently launched 'The EB110 & The Last Bugatti Racing Cars' book has sold for a staggering $64,000 at Pebble Beach.
The book was written by Johann Petit, Pascal van Mele and edited by Julius Kruta - Bugatti historian and former Head of Tradition at Bugatti Automobiles. It is a 440-page work that contains 700 period photographs, historic images and original sketches, the majority of which have never before been published.
Julius Kruta stated that the objective of the book was to transport the reader through the remarkable tale of the Bugatti EB110, going through its birth, growth and abrupt end. It also brings readers through the story of Romano Artioli's ambition to create a world beating car in a futuristic factory and the failure of said dreams.
He also remarked that the book is truly one of a kind just like in the famous words of Bugatti's founder, Ettore Bugatti, who said, "If comparable… it is no longer Bugatti."
The proceeds from Book 001 that was sold at the auction will be going to the Pebble Beach charity.
