Torque, Singapore's leading motoring monthly published by SPH Magazines, held the ninth edition of Torque On The Move, its annual automotive telematch.
This year's event is anchored on the theme 'Two to Tango', with 60 teams participating, each with two participants in a car. Every pair had to rely on their individual street-smarts and combined road-savviness to tango their way from one exciting challenge to another until they reached the scenic end point, Marina At Keppel Bay.
The event's three Torque Junction checkpoints and 15 Bonus Challenges kept the 120 participants busy and their cars buzzing along, all the way from the 12:00pm flag-off till the 4:00pm cut-off.
Teamwork was put to the test as participants engaged in fun games, which included testing the spaciousness of Hyundai SUVs, hooping balls into Yokohama tyres and even a dance-off challenge. The participants also zipped around the island in search of trishaws, Merlions and Singapore's tallest indoor slide.
Torque On The Move 2018 concluded successfully with the three highest-scoring teams on the winners' podium. The victorious team drove away with over $3,100 worth of prizes, including petrol vouchers from Hyundai, a set of Yokohama tyres, Kappa sportswear vouchers, watches, gadgets and more.
Jared Lim, 30, of the top team this year, said, "I was very excited. We saw a lot of places that we usually don't get to go to. We're definitely intending to return for next year's Torque On The Move. It's a good time to get off work!"
Mr. Christopher Tan, Consulting Editor of Torque and Senior Transport Correspondent with The Straits Times, said, "Singapore's most authoritative motoring title not only keeps its readers up to speed on the automotive scene, but also revs up their excitement behind the wheel with this driving event."
Mr. David Ting, Editor of Torque, said, "Torque On The Move 2018 brought our readers, who are the co-drivers of our content both online and offline, on a unique joyride to score great prizes and share wonderful motoring moments. Our signature event has continued its nine-year winning streak as Singapore's favourite automotive telematch."
Ms. Pang Lee Cheng, General Manager of SPH Magazines, said, "Torque On The Move has resonated with participants and our business partners since the debut of the yearly event in 2010, and the 2018 edition is no exception. We're already looking forward to Torque On The Move #10 in 2019."
Torque On The Move 2018 is organised by SPH Magazines and presented by Hyundai under Komoco Motors, with the event's Official Tyre being Yokohama under YHI Corporation.
