Volkswagen of America is bidding farewell to its final year of production of the manual Golf GTI and Golf R with a special edition Golf GTI 380.
Available exclusively for North America, the car gets the '380' in its name from the Mk8 Golf's internal model code. The number is said to be a nod to the fourth generation 337 special edition, sold in 2022, which borrowed in the internal model code from the Mk1 GTI.
The car comes as standard with the firm's Dynamic Chassis Control adaptive damping system, as well as multi-spoke gloss black 19-inch alloy wheels from the Gold R 20th anniversary edition, which pair with a gloss black roof and gloss black mirror caps.
In the cabin, the Volkswagen Golf GTI 380 gets, of course, a golf ball-inspired manual shift knob - as has graced every generation of the GTI. The car is additionally available with either Scalepaper Plaid cloth seats or Vienna leather seats depending on the selected trim level.
Under the bonnet the Golf GTI 380 remains unchanged from the regular Golf GTI so the turbocharged EA888 engine continues to offer 242bhp. The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will be utilised for all future examples of the Golf GTI and Golf R in North America.
