Formidable Korean luxury sedan `
|
|
Decided to give this most interesting Korean luxury sedan a go after driving the ES250 which is a serious contender for the replacement of my aging Jag. I must say Asian manufacturers now dominate consumer electronics and are muscling into European territory for automobiles. The Genesis looks serious. The large grill reminds me of Aston Martin ( or Ford ! ) but it sites well with the face. It is a reasonably handsome car and Hyundai designers may have taken some cues from BMW. The interior is well built but not to Lexus or MB standard but well executed and had fairly good quality feel. The features are what that sets it apart. Soft close suction doors, ventilated seats, blind spot monitor, HUD display, smart cruise control. Very well loaded with options which only higher end models from MB and Lexus gives. The drive was smooth and powerful with a 3.8 v6. Handled well and felt rock steady and quiet on the AYE at above the speed limit. Braking had a strange feel but got use to it after a while. I must say it is a tempting proposition. If only Komoco knows how to market it, I think it can make a mark.

Refreshing breath of fresh air apart from the Germans, Japs etc `

Amazing stance. Very stylish and if not for the engine cover which sports a slanted "H", one is unlikely to tell its a Kim Chi.
Yes, its a little bit of a me-too from the usual luxury brands like Jag/Lexus/Beemer, but very well put together- unlike the typical copy cat from PRC (looks like RR with a 2.4L 4 cylinder engine)
Strong engine, well tuned suspension, 8 speed box, intricately crafted interior.

Super luxurious sedan at luxurious sedan price `
|

Had a chance to bring the new Genesis for a spin round Leng Kee area. It was a joy ride...or should I say joyful ride.
Exterior looks great and a bit deceiving without the normal 'Hyundai' badge. Maybe it's a departure from norm and to signal the arriving of Hyundai as a credible auto manufacturer. Perhaps like the luxurious brands of 'T' and 'N'.
First sight and feel of the interior was also great....feel of luxury and full of gadgets....really full lf bells and whistles.
