Just got the made in Japan HRV. It's actually exactly the same for the reviews for the Honda Vezel. The only big difference are the factory made leather seats and higher OMV. Paid an average of 7K more compared to PI Vezels. Ohhh, and a big major difference is the AD HRV comes in the converted English version and not Japanese words.

What I like
FC
Value for money.
Style
Space

What I do not like
Engin noise is louder for a new car compared to other Brand’s.
Too few compartments in the car.

Honda has form here, though. Take its CR-V SUV – A clear rival for the Qashqai, Kia Sportage and Mazda CX-5, it’S noticeably larger with a roomier cabin. The HR-V then sits in the strange middle ground between Juke and Qashqai, Captur and Kadjar and CX-3 and CX-5. And with prices ranging from a sniff under £18,000 and rising to around £25,000 it's positioned neatly between these two markers.

The HR-V doesn’T follow the Tonka toy styling of the Jeep Renegade and nor does it play with cutesy lines like the Fiat 500X, instead it goes for a more high-riding sporty look. The combination of a rounded front, curved window area and arching roof line all give the HR-V a jacked-up coupe look, all helped by the pronounced crease running through the two side doors that meets up with the window line, and the hidden door handle on the two rear doors.

To the rear there’S boomerang-like lights – But they’Re only the real styling flourish on a back-end that boarders on being plain; The Mazda CX-3, Renault Captur and even larger crossovers like the Qashqai are more distinctive. Having said that, the HR-V is a world away from its larger brother’S awkward and boxy styling.

The bold outside look is continued onto the inside as well. The dashboard’S design is refreshingly upmarket – The fascia is angled towards the driver and the use of piano black trim gives the HR-V a sophisticated look. A high centre console gives a sporty feeling and the cabin has a number of nice design touches like the thin, stubby gearlever that feels really good in the palm of your hand, and a 3D-like speedowhich has an outer rim that not only can be personalised to the colour of your choice, but also glows depending upon how eco-friendly you’Re driving. A quality-feeling leather wrapped steering feel is a nice touch, as are the climate controls that are housed in a classy touch-sensitive panel just under the seven-inch touchscreen.

It’S just a shame then that the upper part of the dash is made out of scratchy hard plastic and the sat nav system is out of step with the rest of the near-premium feeling cabin. SE Navi and top-spec EX models don’T use a bespoke Honda system and instead rely on a Garmin system.

What I like
CTBA which helps prevent any accident and also protects my wallet.
Brake hold when i a traffic jam i can just release the brake instead of holding it. Last will be the design of the aircon which is first of its kind style.

What I do not like
Slightly noisy as the soundproofing is very bare.

Had a chance of driving the HR-V for 1 week. Best petrol consumption among all the cars i've driven even though its just 1.5 engine! Drives like a dream as well. Never thought a HR-V would become so popular among singaporeans. The HR-V have the looks that everyone likes, powerwise, although its a crossover with a 1.5 engine, there's no lack of power at all, the power comes in anytime you need it! Overall, this car really is a full-of-praise-and-no-complain kind of car!

Car has the FC of a FIT but has the size of a SUV. Driving this car has been a pleasure. From its ECO mode saving the FC to the features such as the CTBA that helps you stop the car in a traffic jam. Its exteriar with its unique back door handle hidden makes it special and Honda with hits space saving design allowing the back seat to be configured with the Height of the space required has really allow me to bring huge items from IKEA. The car also runs off the ECO mode which helps it push for power to any where you need to get to fast.

The car has a stylish design of a cross between a sedan and an SUV. It is slightly lower than an average SUV but higher than the average sedan. The hidden door handle design of the back passenger doors give it an added touch of uniqueness to the overall sporty aesthetic feel of the car.

The interior of the car is very basic, no fancy bells and whistles and the design of the air on vent somewhere does not meet with my personal taste. The car has surprisingly good handling, especially for lady drivers and is easy to manuver. However, the car seems to lack power when you try and accelerate so may take a little getting used to if you want to over take another vehicle.

Heard about limited space in the glove compartment but it was unfounded when I went to check it out. The size of the glove compartment is decent.

What I like
Exterior design
Easy handling for women drivers
Spacious interior
Electronic parking

What I do not like
Interior design very dated
No back seat air con vent
Lack of power when accelerating

Looks
=====
The HR-V has a bold look with all the streamlining in it's front clusters. The sleek look is what attracts so many people to the car. The side profile and the rear door handles that gives it a sporty stance. The front looks abit chuttered though but it's the fascade Honda is going for in all their lineup.

Interior
========
The HRV has an industrious feel to it. All form of comfort trims are missing and the dashboard give a feeling that it's designed by two person with creative difference. The Jazz is like that, the Steam is like that, the HRV is no different. It's a mess if you ask me! The only redeeming factors are the integrated audio display panels, touchscreen controls and the unique Meters with LED ring to indicate of your driving pattern. But still, they look like a last minute fit-in designed by drunken designers.

What I like
Engine
======
HRV's engine is tuned to be specifically sensitive to the pedal. This give the vehicle a responsive feel that the car is quick to react when you driving out of the parking lot or from the traffic light at 0km/h. But don't mistake responsiveness as being more powerful. It is only at mid speeds when you floor the pedal, that you know the potential of the engine and transmission. The HRV failed in this aspect. The power failed to deliver to the transmission efficiently. All I hear is a louder exhaust sound, but the car is not moving any faster than it should be.

Handling
========

The HR-V is quite a comfy ride. The suspension feel just right without the rocking bumps felt in most high ground CUVs. While it's quite engaging to drive, the steering lacks the precision I would like. Overall it's still a competent for a spirited drive, provided the engine and transmission can keep up.

What I do not like
verall
=======
If you compared the HRV alone, it's not a bad car. It could have sell okay, but was marred by the PI's Vezel. Moreover the Vezel's "made in Japan" status and it's price have ripped off a huge chunks of customers from the HRV.

Although I haven't tested the Vezel, online comments seems to indicate that the Vezel is a much better drive with a superior engine. Perhaps the vezel will address the drawbacks I mentioned on the HRV? Until I have the chance to test the Vezel, I may never know.

But it's also caveat as Customers are struggling to find the most reliable deal from the PIs which has produced a mixture of happy and distress customers alike.

If you don't mind the lower power and higher price for smooth transaction and peace of mind, perhaps the HRV would be a better choice.

It is a comfortable car and easy to drive. Due to the height of the car you do get a commanding view of the road ahead. The drive is quiet and you can use the paddle shift that comes as standard.

What I like
The car is quiet and comfortable. Comes with reverse camera (with 3 views). Styling is pretty modern.

What I do not like
The engine is very loud when you accelerate. The roar of the engine is not at all satisfying as its not the sporty kind of sound petrol head would like to hear. Car feels under power especially when you want to overtake. This car is best driven at a leisure pace and if you are in a rush the engine noise will not inspire.

Wondered what is the fuss about after seeing all the Vezels on the road, so I went to test drive the HR-V at Kah Motors.

Outside, it looks good like what most crossovers do nowadays. If you want your car to look like a coupe and have a high seating point, this is your car.

Inside, space is plenty. Ultra seats are useful for those days you need to carry a bicycle. Plastics inside are inconsistent. At the price Honda is selling the HR-V, it is no good. Specs are nothing much to talk about too other than the brake hold feature.

During the drive, the car is sluggish and feels heavy. It is very clear there is no Honda magic in here. Handling is average at best. The steering feels detached and has no feedback . The ride itself is firm which keeps body roll in check.

When I jumped into the car, i saw the FC reading of 10km/l. But since this is a test car, i believe this is not its true FC reading.

What I like
- space
- Honda branding and reliabilty
- good looks
- FC should be decent

What I do not like
- lack of power and CVT gearbox does not help
- feels heavy
- engine is disappointingly noisy also partly due to CVT gearbox which maintain high revs when asking for more power
- uses a less powerful engine as compared to the JDM Vezel
- no LED headlight
- handling is boring. The closely related Jazz handles much better.
- need to improve plastic quality inside.

Before test drive, I have good impression of the car and have seen a number of PI version on the road. Shortlist HRV and Qashqai as a new replacement.

After test drive I am disappointed with it.

1. Audible engine noise when rev slightly, poor acceleration.
2. Extremely audible engine noise when you rev to over take.
3. Handling on corners, medicore.
4. Interior, all plastic
5. Audible road noise

Overall is worst off than Qashqai.

What I like
Exterior look
Fuel efficiency

What I do not like
Poor acceleration
Noisy engine and insulation
Road noise
Plastic interior
Medicore handling

Test drive the HRV today and have this to comment; Interior seen to be comfortable, with enough space for 4 adults and a child. The road handling is same as the Nissan Qashqai with fair bit of body roll, hard cornering wasn't tide and emergency braking require much foot effort. However the worst is its acceleration, when moving off gently from stationery was smooth and easy, but when needed to accelerate to over take or from stationery ; It seem like is it out of breath, it can't quickly pick up from stationery to 80km/hr and it engine noise is pretty loud and I did not try to bring the vehicle to 100km/hr as the vehicle doesn't seem to have enough power to bring the speed upward even I had depress the accelerator to its maximum.
However if you are a driver who don't over take regularly and drive slowly most of the time and you don't mind the loud engine noise during acceleration and the louder road noise then this is the right SUV for you.

What I like
cabin space
keyless push start
steptronic paddle shift
cruise control
versatile arrangement of passenger rear seat to allow increase boot space

What I do not like
poor acceleration
basic model do not have a lot of features
noisy engine
poor cabin sound proofing
poor handling

Tested out the HRV. There are some minor differences when compared with the PI Vezel. The features are lesser, however the OMV is much higher. CEVS rebate is also 5k lesser than the vezel. Athough the power in the HRV is lesser, the difference is quite negligible imo when in normal driving.

Buying this car gives you a peace of mind if one die die need to buy from the AD. Otherwise, when compared to other similarly priced cars in the market, the HRV and vezel is a great drive.

What I like
AD 5 yrs warranty, and 3 yrs free servicing
Paddle shifters as standard in LX and the LX premium models.
Original 7" HU
Higher OMV and ARF
17" rims
Spare tyre at the back. Good for those who regularly go up north

What I do not like
Top interior lights looks normal as compared to vezel's cool "cockpit" looking style
Missing LED headlights
Missing 12V outlet at the passenger compartment
Missing Honda's CBTA and econ mode

Honda HR-V
