Review
Test driven this model, found it comfortable ride with good power.
Has many new features including reverse sensors with camera, sunroof, full leather seats. The speed pickup was good, had to floor more due the heavy kerb weight of around 1.3tons. But braking is strong.
The drive experience was pleasant.
What I like
Good fuel consumption for the skyactiv engines
Many new electronic features
Heads up display is pretty
Large boot for putting golf bags, prams etc.
What I do not like
Kerb weight is around 200kg heavier than Honda city
slightly cost more than the hatchback variant.
No factory fitted lcd screen system.

Test driven this car in Dec 2014. I fell in love with the interior at first sight. It gives a feeling of a high quality continental car. The exterior design is stylish and sexy.
There are interesting features such as head up display and keyless engine start.
Overall, like the looks and features, but the reliability of these electronics is in question.
The space for back seat is not sufficient. Price at that time, was a little high compared to its Korean competitors in similar segment, due to good market response. The engine response is good, but lacks power in high rev range. Engine too noisy when revved hard.
What I like
Stylish exterior
Good interior design and features
Fun to drive
What I do not like
Small space at the back
Lack power at high revs
Engine can be noisy at times

Test driven it, Love it and bought it. Now I am driving it.
Having driven Korean, Japanese and Continental cars, I must say this Mazda 3 interior certainly feels continental with high quality.
Love the gadgets especially the Activ Display which shows lane by lane directions as well. It really works in that after setting up the route, I use this and voice instructions to make the complete journey without looking at the GPS screen
Voice recognition works superbly with factory settings, good audio and drive feel match me very well.
Some people mention about the lack of side pockets, but to me the tilted side pockets work very well as it hold water bottle firmly at an angle and also all my coupons. The tilt make it easier to take it out and no chance of dropping it when the door is open.
Rear seats, though not as spacious as other makes, is comfortable and my teenager children and wife all indicate it is more comfortable than my previous Fluence as seats are better cushion.
And also, i-Stop is very smooth.
The one thing I did not like is that local Mazda did not bring in the auto-lock feature.
What I like
Drive
Sun-Roof
Activ Display
Audio system, entertainment system
Interior, simple and clean look
Walkaway lock, HL auto leveller, i-stop
Seat comfort, spacious driver and front passenger seat
What I do not like
No Auto-Lock
Back seat 2 comfortably, 3 is alright but I do not think 4 pax will be comfortable

Got the Mazda 3, 1.5 deluxe crystal blue after test drove Sylphy, Altis, K3. Decided on Mz3 as a most rounded overall of my needs and want. Cover only 6k+ km including a trip to Penang when I wrote this short review. The only thing I change to the car is swapping a set of rims, still 16" but 7" wide. ET is +38. Which made the track to 24mm wider than OEM. Tire size and profile remain unchange. So comfort wise I still find it comfortable due mostly to 60 profile tire. Seats ergonomics are good specially the driver side electric seat which can adjust minute movement with its fine threaded strut. But on longer trip to north my butt ache a little. Need sometime for my butt to make two depression on the new seat. On wide sweeping bend the steering input is accurate, only let down is by the high 60 profile tire which flexes laterally. The OEM Japan Toyo tires grips well. You can't have comfort and fast corner at the same time (tire). I find the 1.5 engine gives good power too,
maintain rpm to 3k or above will give you a kick in the butt as if car is on steriod feeling. Tried the cruise control setting at 110km/h. Find that when car is going down slope, engine is actually doing engine braking in order to maintain at the set 110km/h. So cruise control is best use on relatively flat road. Note the self leveling head light one morning (still dark) when after my two children boarded the back seat, the projection of headlight beam on the wall dipped twice to lower the throw of the beam so as not to glare on coming driver. Also the tilting of one of the headlight to left or right in accordance to your steering input. If you turn left, headlight left will tilt left, if you turn right, headlight right will tilt right. Dual zone air-con is also an important feature to me cos my wife will set a higher (passenger side) while me (driver side) lower temperature when we both in the car. The blower fan speed got 7 setting, but max we only turn to 3, will cool the whole cabin adequately. Keyless and folding mirror are good to have features too. Would prefer the steering wheel to be more softly padded and chunkier. The GPS on the infotainment works well even in the carpark. My GPS in my previous car will tell you LOST SATELLITE in the same carpark.
Overall I am sure I made the right choice in choosing Mazda 3.
What I like
Self leveling / tilting head light
Infotainment
Electric adjustment driver seat
Dual zone air-con
On steering wheel cruise control, bluetooth, audio adjustment, GPS, reverse cam.
Auto on/off head light and wiper, self folding side mirror with repeater.
60/40 folding rear seat.
Sun roof.
Made in Japan quality....the list goes on....
What I do not like
Left side more prone to blind spot.
Steering's resistance to turning input when driving slowly. e.g. making a U turn.
Steering grip/feel too hard and thin.
High compression engine leads to noisy/rough acceleration | Posted on 20 Feb 2015 |

Test drove the vehicle - sedan deluxe version.
Alot of features but engine is simply too loud for my consideration.
What I like
Features.
What I do not like
Pricing not attractive enough compared to other makes.
Loud engine

Backside itchy and test drove this car along with 1 other Japanese and 2 other Korean cars on the same day and it is not even the most expensive of the lot but I was taken aback by the drive the moment I step on the pedal. It is the most engaging drive among the lot.
Sure the air box (engine) sound is no where near an italian car (roar) but it does its job the best it can.
The gearbox reminds me of an italian car, too little input and the car drags itself along while too much it will hold its gear and you will see your head slamming against the headrest.
Definitely not the smoothest engine ... but i like its attitude.
The heart rules, cant get over her curves. Bought mine and had been riding it for 8000km now. So far so good. Always thought that mine is a bit fidgety at high speed and I was right. After changing the lower arm bushing due to a "nonking" sound at 6000km, I am more than satisfied with her handling even though it weighs 1.3 ton. The feel that the steering is trying to fight me is gone completely and I was again bewitched by her handling. Perhaps not hatchback class but it does hold the road pretty well, especially on manual mode.
The designer said that they benchmarked BMW 3 series for the interior, although not in the same way (the German is way chunkier and solid), but I would agree that it is the best looking in its class. For S$6K more, you get all the goodies of the electronics that would be expensive options for a German.
For the price comparative to other cars its class, it is a no brainer.
What I like
- luxurious interior for the price
- engine performance
- fuel consumption (this car sip petrol as long as you drive normally)
- luxurious ride quality
- good quality solar film by agent
- raspy start up "noise"of the exhaust
- SAT-NAV that works and comes with 3 years free update via labtop which users can perform on our own.
- hidden exhaust tip - clean look
- sun roof that works wonders after parking in the hot Singapore sun.
- electric driver seat with lumbar support - thank GOD!
- fun to drive
- engine dont feel "small" when rev hard
- original "leather" seats that does not build up too much heat and slippery.
- original sound system in the infotainment system might be the best in its class as well
- Infotainment system that is useful and works.
- jaw-dropping gorgeous, especially in real life. Those curves are just so sexy.
- aggressive headlight stance, especially in LO setting (I did said they benchmarked BMW, didnt I).
- cant see other car high-beam from the rear view mirror becos my car has a big sexy butt :P
What I do not like
- engine roar not loud enough
- keyless entry? I am still holding the key. Duh.
- road noise is quite pronounce stock. Insulation? Tyres? Both?
- rims not aggressive enough
- ride not compliance enough without losing control at high speed

Got my car in December and have been driving close to 1000km. Overall I am happy with the performance of the car.
Car is very fuel efficient as compare to my previous ride at 13+ km per litre.
Currently I am only on my second full tank travelling from north to south 5 days a week.
At low speed engine does not feel under power. Main issue is with overtaking as the pickup lack the punch.
What I like
Overall car look
Fuel efficient around 13-14km per litre
Good U turn radius
Interior design feel continental
What I do not like
Do not feel as nimble as my previous ride,
Hard to see blind spot on the left
Back seats are a little cramp
Pickup slower due to 1.5L model
Boot size is small
Good but somewhat lacking | Posted on 07 Jan 2015 |

I have done around 2500km in this car since collected it during mid Nov 2014. First impression, great looking car with a well built interior. After living with it for almost 2 months, certain flaws start showing. Flaws such as knocking sound from suspension when going pass speed bump and auto lock doesn't lock the car when you are walking away. A new car yet must waste time go back to dealership and fix the problem, which is really annoying. As this is still a new car, I'm sure more problems will surface within the first 2 years of ownership.
My recording of knocking sound when going over speed bump:- http://youtu.be/Ak6xFozbNr0
Other than the flaws, the nice part of it is the very well built interior. Love the interior more than BMW 1 Series. Quality materials being used and the software of the car entertainment system is very well design. Very user friendly.
The ride comfort is excellent. Only complain is that the 1.5L is pretty down on power. At the point of purchase 2.0L option wasn't available. So my advice is, if you are considering this model, go for the 2.0L. You will enjoy the car more.
End of day, I won't recommend it to a friend as I kind of regretted getting it over second hand FD2R Type R/Evo X.
What I like
- Interior design and quality
- Ride Comfort
- Exterior design
- Very well spec
- Entertainment system
What I do not like
- Down on power
- Engine sounds like a diesel
- Sound insulation
- Boring
- Such a nicely designed car but a hidden exhaust? Kidding me?

Unable to give better rating on reliability as it still new, however the build do feel solid. Japanese Car with some continental feel due to it feature and interior setup. Value for money car. It does feel sluggish during the initial pickup however the ride was smooth during cruising. Handsome exterior look.

As it's name tells - All new Mazda 3 2014, it is really designed for this new age.
The external design is amazing. I fell in love with it after my first glance on it.
The shape is more beautiful than BMW for me. I chose silver colour, which was all my families' favourite colour among the available colours at that moment. But no doubt red colour is better.
The leather sporty seats and the sunroof window attracted us the most. Personally I love the arm support for driver, too, very smart and sweet design.
Noise level is low while driving but you can hear the engine sound when you speed up. That's perfectly match my expectation.
I tried the I-stop, sometimes work well, some times better switch off. Because when both I-stop and auto-aircon switched on, and the cabin is very hot, the engine will restart very soon after I-stop even you trample the brake.
The handling is very good. It is very easy and smooth to drive.
I still need to familiarize the blue-tooth calling function. The system cannot recgonize the number I tell at most of the time.
Overall, it is the car that we want for our family. And Actually, it is recommended by one of my friend also.
What I like
external shape
leather sporty seats
sunroof window
engine sound
handling
multi-info panel
auto dual aircon

Review
The new Mazda 3 has improved overall with its stylish exterior and interior. The designers must have taken notice of conti and made great efforts to give it a premier new look. Very nice curves.
The interior has also woo many car owners to sit and feel the luxury of lying back and driving the car.
The all sky active technology (I-stop and I-eloop) has benefits from better fuel consumption.
The handling is sharp and precise.
What I like
The sky active technology (with i-stop and i-eloop)
Command control
LCD screen
Sky roof
Good handling
Resonably priced compared to other Japs rivals.
What I do not like
The tyre comes in a pretty odd size.
The rims are not good looking.
The engine output is the area that needs better improvement.

Some argue that the new Mazdas are the closest Japanese makes that can offer European comfort, feel and quality. Now we have that and a space-age level of design that so far only Nissan and Citroen have ventured into.
For those aware with the level of product planning that went into Saab and how it unfortunately had to fold due to the immense level of customer-oriented features, safety and feel they planned for without thinking about cost - this Mazda see-saws on becoming the next such story. For those unfamiliar with that story, this means that Mazda offers perhaps the most value for a sedan your money can buy. It's closest rival - the Toyota Corolla, while being the best example of being good and profitable - still lacks that excitement that the Mazda offers.
Outside, Mazda's new design language becomes the norm in almost all of its models, with a fluidic sculpture reminiscent of Hyundais, yet still borrowing accents of masculinity and unfriendly looks that are taunt-worthy from the late Mazda Furai. While Toyota still keeps a few changes yesteryear such as the sides, headlamps and taillamps and scream "Mass market", Mazda has aimed to reinvent it learning from BMWs. The design is completely refreshed, sophisticated and just beautiful to look it, from every side.
Inside, Mazda3 continued by removing more mass market elements and replaced it with either dark accents or solid feeling materials that put it on par with the European makes. Sitting inside this newly defined premium comfort zone, seems like Mazda may have borrowed chromosomes from the French, who have recently made plenty of similar design changes to their Citroens. Overall, Mazda triumphs as anything but Japanese - mistakeably winning a new set of customers that plastered as 6% sales increase on their charts.
What I like
European feel, quality, driving response, european car comforts - suspension-wise. Ride is soft, balanced and feels nothing like a Japanese car would (maybe Lexus - but even Lexus its easy to spot the cost-shavings)
New Design is great, and is a great departure from the mass market faces of most Japanese makes except Nissan.
What I do not like
The Skyactiv engine - a marketing term used to make it seem like its more fuel efficient than before. Truth is, the power has been toned down a little. For all the European feel, sturdiness there is to it, that tiny lack of power just to qualify as a fuel efficient "Japanese" vehicle can be felt. That kind of makes it annoying since I would have found it ideal to find a European standard vehicle for Japanese price rather than a bit underpowered as well.

Bought the car after trying out a couple of other brands of the same category. Was attracted by the exterior look and interior features. It is a lot similar featured in Conti- brands, i.e. I-Loop , I stop, communication system, voice command recognition etc.
What I like
The handling and stability especially driving at 100KM/Hr. The information/status of the Car interaction with the Driver.
What I do not like
The boot height and space, the Engine power (1.5L at 88Hp) is seriously undersize for the chassis and car frame and the rear passenger seat.
Driving a slope up is equalvant an Old man choking while climbing a stairs unless you depress the pedal and push up the Revolution.

Tested drive this car recently. It has nice look which is very sporty.
Interior: futuristic design, but a bit plastic feel.
Exterior: nice shape, really catches your eye.
Steering wheel is not that soft, which provided driver confidence in handling.
The 1.5 version I have driven, the pick up is fast
What I like
Futuristic interior design.
Good handling which gives driver confidence in driving
What I do not like
Plastic feel interior

Bought the Mazda3 deluxe model and been driving it daily for 7 months now. Its the kindof car that made you wanting more once you started driving it, at least thats how i still feels.. . The handling of this car is really out of its class considering its not a luxury sport car, and i must say I have been enjoying driving it still . I droved nissan, toyota before and this Mazda3 is comparatively a much better Japanese car to all my old rides..
What I like
Handling and exterior styling
Large functional 7 inch touch screen display
I-stop
What I do not like
Road noise a bit on the high side, but its likely to do with the TOYO stock tires.
Replacing it should solve the problem.
