This Hyundai Santa Fe hybrid shows just how far hybrid tech has come since its early days. It's smooth, quiet, and makes for a convincing drivetrain to power the whole family around in comfort.

What I like
Sporty, loud and bold exterior design, meet a sensible interior in the Santa Fe.

And the drivetrain is mighty impressive as well. It's quiet, even when you're gunning it from light to light, and easily transport your seven-seater body all the way up a tall multi-storey carpark without feeling strained.

There's also a nifty blindspot monitoring system, which is activated when you signal, although you can also put this on double duty to help you check if there's enough space to clear a corner without kerbing those rims.

Interior comfort is strong. The cabin is quiet and the ride is quite comfortable.

What I do not like
This is quite a big car, but you'll only be able to use the rear boot if you fold down the last row of seats. So don't put too much nonsense inside the car if you ferry all your colleagues to lunch.

If you like the look of the Venue but need something bigger, the facelifted Santa Fe will be a good choice. The car gets new looks with slim head lights and a large grille up front, alongside new bumpers.

What I like
The hybrid variant of the Santa Fe is actually a rather refined thing. It is quiet, and despite being a 1.6-litre towing quite a big SUV, the drivetrain offers enough torque to tow the car along with enough urgency.

You also get a clean, sensible cabin that is easy to get familiar with.

What I do not like
nil.
