Drove the new SORENTO for almost 3 weeks. Both exterior and interior design looks fabulous.
Drive was comfortable, consumption and power of this SUV were good for such a heavy car.
Was served by Dominic Wong, he was very thorough highlighting the star features of this SUV during viewing and test drive. Very patient and knowledgeable. Also did a thorough hand over when I collected my SUV.
HAPPY DRIVING!!!

Kia's large SUV shows that you can get all the space and road presence you want from any SUV without paying a tall fuel bill.
What I like
Hybrid drivetrain doesn't sound like much but that's not the case. Despite having only a 1.6-litre engine, the car pulls effortlessly and is decently refined all the way through.
The ride is also soft and pliant, and talking about comfort, you won't have to deal with the noisy (from the outside) engine if you opt for the diesel drivetrain with this hybrid. This Sorento is tall enough to inspire a lot fo driver confidence, without being too big to become cumbersome on tighter roads.
Cabin layout is okay. There's plenty of space, rear passengers will have air-con vents and controls, but those at the front feel a little flimsy.
What I do not like
Infotainment fonts and general design is starting to feel dated. Kia needs to be looking to rolling something new out by now.

The new Kia Sorento Hybrid SUV offers you all the massive road presence without any of the fuel-drinking wallet-shrinking downsides.
What I like
It's big and looks well like it. There's a strong chin up front, and plenty of sheet metal on the sides and rear, so people all around know you're in a big SUV.
And the Sorento Hybrid has the power to haul all this bulk as well. It's hybrid system hardly feels strained, and will pull you off the line with minimal fuss. The upshot of this is you won't be scared to push your way through congested roads even despite of your size.
Then there's the excellent cabin. You have good space all around, even at the last row, although it can be a bit high to climb into here.
What I do not like
There's no all-wheel drive but and the road feel through the steering wheel is just missing but that's alright for the mass of this Sorento. And it's not asking for too tall a price as well, not when lined up against premium offerings of the same size.
Probably the best family car in the segment | Posted on 15 Aug 2022 |

Kia is a making a killing with their cars. This Sorento just goes to show how far they have since that horrid first generation Sorento only people with less than good levels of taste cared lay their eyes on, let alone purchase.
I would also go so far to say that the Sorento beats its competitors in this segment. Granted as a SUV it is still not the most appealing thing to look at, but it does have an aggresive looking design and sharp lines for those who like such things.
The space that the Sorento offers is great. It really is a cave of a car even for a bigger sized individual like myself. This applies to both the front and back of the car.
Choice of materials used in the car is also commendable. Nothing was squeaky during the test drive. The use of many soft touch points also gave the car a really premium feel. And yes it is quality which not even a BMW can say has it beaten.
Please do not waste your hard earned cash on a BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. This is the superior option, unless of course you are a badge snob.
Of course the interior is not the only good part about the Sorento. Handling is neat for such a huge SUV. Ride comfort is also pretty top notch, providing a great ride for your family when doing groceries.
Honestly, what else more can you wish for from a family car?
What I like
-Outstanding build quality
- Great ride quality
- Acres of interior space
What I do not like
- Kind of pricy at the current COE prices

This hybrid Sorento wants to combine all the great things we look for in a car: Economy, interior space, and great looks.
What I like
A big SUV may seem at odds with the compact capacity of this hybrid drivetrain. Don't be fooled.
The system is strong and more than capable of carrying the body of the Sorento around. You'll be able to climb up multi-storey carparks all on electric power alone, if you're careful with the accelerator pedal.
And it does not feel strained on the road either. Far from it in fact. The drivetrain is smooth, quiet, and hardly misses a beat when it comes to offering up acceleration when overtaking.
The Sorento is also great for ferrying the family. There's good space even for adults, all the way to the third row. And the cabin looks like a premium place to be in as well. Build quality is only slightly behind the premium marques, but there's plenty of practical touches all around to keep the children happy.
What I do not like
What do you want to complain about. If you're after more space still, get the Kia Carnival.
