Overall premium car feel at a better price point | Posted on 01 Sep 2024 |

Overall, my assessment is that I am getting more premium car experience in a better price. Car interior has better design than the near rivals in its class. Comfortable premium sedan feel. The software/UI could use a little enhancement to make it more intuitive for the driver. Likewise the dashboard could have metrics that are more useable for the drivers.

Like lots of fellow Singaporeans, I was very sceptical in the past of driving an EV but has been caught by many surprises of great feedback about owning BYD Seal over 9 months from my Western friends living in Australia and NZ.
Finally took a bold move to try Telsa 3 and BYD Seal before making a decision to get the latter.A close "Fight" In making our choice then .I guess it is about individual driver profile and style of making a such decision.
The rest is a history- Great in driving and riding during every moment so far.

This is my first EV.
Bought this car for my wife, poor experience, problems come one after another.
Brand new car broke down after 1 week, it says "Protection system fail"
Charging using provided charger at 5kwh at home, takes ages to charge.
Not only that, sometimes when plugged in it doesnt even charge.
Actual real world driving, I am getting barely 60% Of the stated range.
Sound system quality is quite poor.
Will be selling it soon.
What I like
cool design
What I do not like
reliability, high road tax, product did not live up to expectations

I'm absolutely thrilled with my BYD Seal! This electric vehicle has exceeded my expectations in every way. The sleek design and spacious interior make it a joy to drive and ride in. The 15.6-inch rotatable screen is a game-changer, providing seamless connectivity and entertainment on the go.
The Seal's performance is impressive, with smooth acceleration and a quiet ride. The electric motor delivers instant torgue, making accelration smooth and effortless; The handling is responsive and precise making it a blast to navigate the road.
The range anxiety is minimal, thanks to the robust battery life. I've been getting an average of [460-470] miles on a single charge, which is perfect for my daily commute.
The BYD OS operating system is user-friendly and intuitive, making it easy to navigate and customize my driving experience. The advanced safety features and driver assistance systems provide added peace of mind.
Overall, I'm thoroughly enjoying my BYD Seal and would highly recommend it to anyone considering an electric vehicle. It's a fantastic value for the price.

The car has won an award so I was think of buying one. I had a Nissan Leaf when EV first became popular. After doing a test drive, I changed my mind. The car was ok but the most irritating part was the dashboard. Normally that's where the driver gets his car info like speed. Instead of under a hood to minimise glare, it is replaced with a LED screen. The LED light is exposures to light so you get glare and reflection which is very irritating. Obviously, it is design more by a computer designer instead of a car company. Most functions are accessed by the side touch screen. The layout of the screen seems to be designed a programmer is littered with icons. Not intuitive no planning. A bit like smartphones before iPhone. If the car is self driving, it would not be an issue, but they forgot that human is still behind the wheel. So have to wait for future version.
Good But Not Cheap | Posted on 30 Jun 2024 |

China product should be good and cheap. When i know it priced at RMB 210,000 which translate to S$42,000. That mean it maybe
good, But not cheap. Now it priced at S$170,000. About 4 cars. My stand is clear, i Can pay the price in cash But you give me 4 cars. Can keep the change.
Beware of effective interest rate | Posted on 28 Jun 2024 |

Why I hate to take forced loan from BYD. For the promotion price, I must take $100,000 for 7 years @2.48%, that is $17,360! Now many people don't realise the EFFECTIVE interest rate is actually 4.71%. So for 7 years it's a whopping $32,970!
The finance discount for the car is $6,000 which the finance company will reimburse BYD , so if you don't accept, they add $6,000 to the selling price!
In fact all dealers of various brands are practising this gimmick. My standing is clear. I will buy from those who waive off the financial loan sales agreement otherwise I walk away. I would rather pay cash .

Only downside is the interior design isn't my taste but overall quality is superior to competitors in the class. While looking like a sports sedan, it is actually quite comfortable and not jarring like model 3.
Unfortunately, like all EVs, the range is not realistic and is only 65% of advertised, pretty much the same as competitors.
