Review
Bought the Civic 1.6L in Feb 2017. Reliability is very poor. Original battery needed replacement after 13 months. After switching off the camera permanently, battery only lasted 23 months at the most.
.
Worst of all, warning lights (all of them : check system, check VSA, brake problem, etc) regularly turned on and lasted for 2-4 days. Warning lights turned on again during driving every 2-3 weeks.
Honda USA has recalled 2016-2020 Civic to fix its ECU that caused the warning lights. Local Kah won't bother with the recall.
.
Spark plugs, air filter, engine oil / filter are new. Warning lights keep switched on during driving.
.
Aircon is very weak in cooling, even at the lowest temp and highest fan speed. Grab Nissan Sunny (15 years old) had cooler and stronger aircon, despite not having rear vent.
.
Need practical mainstream car ? Buy Toyota Corolla Altis instead. Never buy Civic. Same in USA, it is one of worst car there in reliability.
What I like
Functional as a city car; adequate booth and cabin size. Fuel efficient (6.2 L/100KM - actual city driving).
What I do not like
Extremely poor reliability.
Warning lights keep switched on: check system, check engine, VSA malfunction. All of warning lights turned on on regular basis, despite regular service and new consumables (engine oil / oil filter, air filter, spark plug).

When pushed hard, the car does not accelerate quick and hard plastics inside the cabin. One may be deceived by its looks but most people will be smart enough to know that this car is of low quality. It vibrates alot probably due to the SOHC engine where most of its rivals are already using DOHC.
What I like
REAR VENTS
STYLING
EPB
What I do not like
SOHC ENGINE
FLOOR INTRUSION AT THE BACK
PLASTIC FINISHES
VIBRATION
POOR ACCELERATION
HARD SUSPENSION
AVERAGE HANDLING ALTHOUGH HARD SUSPENSION
COMFORT NO GOOD

Went to Kah Motor to test the new Civic 1.6L. First impression is not a bad exterior design look, not as stylish as the predecessor.
While closing looking at the exterior, noticed that it still comes with halogen lights where only the 1.5L turbo has LED where what era are we in still having halogen. Backlights looks cool though where boot space is adequate as well.
Interior looks cheapo and feels inferior. The leather seats is wrapped up like a PI car and not sewed up type.
Gadgets not much and not even having Honda Sensing at all as option. Disappointed as only the Legend has it. Only the reverse camera has moving grid lines called iPAS.
The drive was not to my expectation where pick up and moving off is sluggish, to compare with the previous model.
Gear changes are slow and at times have to release throttle n accelerate again to "Feel" The gear changes.
Tried to "Dash" A little by hitting the throttle to overtake but to my surprise the charging is not there at all, claiming to have 120+bhp and doesn't seem to be there at all.
Overall, this is not what I am expecting to the new Civic which the previous model at 1.6L performs so much better.
Plus with this price tag and with such a "Normal" Ride that its giving than a conventional Honda where at times have a GO, I rather get other makes like Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Altis or even Chevrolet Cruze if AD and Honda Shuttle if PI.
What I like
New exterior design
Nothing else
Reverse parking camera comes with iPAS
What I do not like
Under power
Halogen lights and no option to LED
Inferior quality interior
No Honda Sensing option
Sluggish pickup
Gear changes not smooth

Totally agreed with the previous fellow that give a sincere review.
I was totally attracted to its exterior and interior outlook of the 1.6 FC during test drive that i did not pay much attention to its performance.
Collected the new car and been driving for a while.
Seriously, CVT transmission is slow response n sloggish...Even suzuki ditch the CVT on ZC32...Yet honda still using it.
Fuel consumption is worse than a 2007 technology 4gear car that i previously drive.
Super regret buying 1.6NA at this price...This is the price of other continent with turbo engine and better FC.
Buy this if u like the looks, dont mind the slowness and huge FC consumption.
What I like
Outlook and interior.
New dashboard layout.
What I do not like
Super slow car
Very bad FC

Review
Have been driving Civic 1.5T for about 3 weeks, clocking 700+ km so far. Handling is noticeably better than my previous 8th gen Civic, and the engine is responsive, capable of delivering the needed power and torque on demand with small but acceptable turbo lag. Average fuel consumption on trip computer registered about 5.8l/100km so far, better than I expected but I travelled mostly on highway (85%) and I am not heavy footed. Lane watch is helpful during day time but is almost useless during night time, arguably when it is most needed. The headlight of other cars in the lane watch video becomes blur when it's dark, and if the car/motorbike does not turn on headlight it will be impossible to see them in the video when it is poorly lit.
But something was not quite right the day I picked up my car. The bonnet is misaligned with noticeable large gap and protrusion on the left side (my car groomer pointed that out too even without telling him, it is that obvious!), my car agent assured me on 1st day that this will be an easy fix and will be addressed fully on my first 1k service. 3 days later, rattling sounds started protruding through the cabin, especially when the car goes over uneven road. Initially after checking the cabin myself, I found the loose plastic panel underneath the steering wheel that seems poorly installed (and designed). I managed to fix it myself but apparently it just addressed half the problem. The rattling sound at cold start seemed to have eliminated, but the rattling and creaking sound when driving on the road still persists, albeit at lower level. In fact, the entire chassis feels like it is constantly struggling to cope when driving, and does not feel confident at all (rigidity supposed to have been increased over last generation). Perhaps I just got a lemon, this really makes me missed my previous 8th gen Civic a lot which served me 10 years without ever making any rattling/creaking sound despite the degraded suspensions in its last 2 years. Is this due to the difference in quality control between Thailand made (10th gen) and Japan made (8th gen)? Now I just hope the rattling/creaking sound is not an indication of some serious and deteriorating issues down the road, and I hope Kah Motor will be able to responsibly and competently address the issue satisfactorily. Until then, I will not recommend the car to my friends.
What I like
Responsive 1.5T engine.
Low fuel consumption for a 170hp car.
Good handling especially when cornering.
Lane watch during day time.
What I do not like
Potential quality and reliability issue (misaligned panels, constant rattling and creaking sound when car vibrates over mildly uneven road are annoying and not acceptable, especially when buyers are charged at premium!)
Useless lane watch during night time (Honda engineers fix this or couple with Blind Spot Monitoring.)
No lumbar support.
Buttons on steering wheel feel cheap and uncomfortable at touch and press (sharp edges).
Too much scratchy hard plastic in the cabin.

I have been driving the naturally aspirated 2017 Civic 1.6 VTi for the past year and a half. Firstly, it looks great, possibly one of the best-looking sedans in it's class. The car is relatively spacious and has great Honda build quality. The interior design looks nice and futuristic too.
Sadly, the 1.6L engine is a carry over from the previous generation and has no significant improvements in terms of performance and efficiency. The CVT gearbox does not help its case along either. The usual rubber-band effect can be felt when accelerating hard and the drone of the gearbox is pretty loud. The biggest letdown however is the poor fuel consumption - I was getting around 7-8km/l or around 330km per full tank. The ECON switch is just for show as it did not save any fuel. The overall stance of the car is rather low slung too which may prove difficult for older folks to get into the car. It also costs more than its competitors in this class.
What I like
- Honda build quality and reliability
- Great looks inside and out
- Spacious and practical interior
What I do not like
- High fuel consumption (7-8km/l)
- CVT gearbox is sluggish and noisy
- Inefficient engine from old model
- Can feel under-powered for quick overtaking
- Low-slung body can prove to be difficult for older folk to enter cabin

I drove a VW Scirocco 1.4TSI previously. The car was mated with the infamous 7 speed dry DSG gearbox. I crossed over to the Civic Turbo for reliability sake. Plus it has 174bhp. More than enough to keep the rev yearning ex 1.4 twincharge owners owners pumped. But something I realised about that car after owning the new Civic Turbo is its refinement.
The Civic Turbo isn't a bad car to be honest. It has very sensible real estate space. Looks isn't too bad although not everyone is agreeable with the "Prawn-ish" Tail lights. Handling is pretty good for a sedan. I mean, its a Honda after all. Overall interior fitment is also a commendable effort. Infotainment system is buggy at times but I can live with it. Coolest part of the car would probably be its LED headlights and LCD style speedometer. First in its class!
This car has character. It is no Altis or Mazda 3 (sorry guys!)
But the refinement (in terms of NVH) is something to ponder over for people hoping to cross over from say, a VW. You will not get the insulation you were used to from the VW. Road noise is dampened. But the windows seems thinner. So every rev from the neighbouring Yamaha "Cub-kia" Will be pretty raw. When the rain falls on the sunroof's glass, you will thought that there was no glass at all.
Engine vibration is the biggest pet peeve here. The 1.5T engine is capable. But it sounds like an european diesel with extra loud direct injection. All these are audible in the cabin. If you are expecting a still and quiet cabin, you won't get it ( i hear the 1.6 one is quieter). You will feel vibrations under the seats, doors and trims. They say this is a characteristic of the engine. I don't really buy it. But some enjoy it. Saying they get to feel the car more. At the end of the day, it really is up to personal preference.
Refinement, reliability and drive are 3 biggest concerns to me. The Civic Turbo will give you reliability (i am harping on Honda's reputation) and drive. Look else where if refinement is part of your requirement.
What I like
- Engine power and consistent torque
- Drive
- General fitment and build of car's interior
- High level of connectivity in Infotainment system
- LCD Dash
- LED headlights
What I do not like
- Poor NVH of engine
- 1.5T engine's rattle, vibrations and sound are transmitted into the cabin
- Vibrations can irk some people who yearn for more refinement
- Engine sounds like a diesel

Review
Test driven the new Civic last weekend. I'd say it looks very good on the outside, but once I opened the door I thought something is amiss. For a brand new car, charging at a price higher than equivalent models, i had expected a better interior in terms of material used. Turned out that there are extensive use of hard and seemingly cheap plastics everywhere - dash board, area near gear lever, and door panel (especially evident on two rear doors). I believe there's more as I've yet to 'inspect' it fully. Seat covers are locally installed - there's still a zip on the 2 front seats which looks cheap and aftermarket. Speaking about seats, the rear seat looks a tad dissappointing as it looks small. There's also a huge centre hump at the backseats, made me feel this car is built 20 years back. For all these shortcomings, one would rather buy a Korean 1.6s which offers almost everything you can think of - soft touch surface, list and list of equipments and niceties, Ventilated seats, flat rear floor etc.
The overall space feels much smaller too than the old Civic which is so spacious and airy.
About the drive, good thing is that it's powerful and ride is stable. However if one has driven a new Toyota, Nissan or Lexus or any comfort-focused car, you'll be disappointed to realise that this Civic vibrates too much for liking especially when idling. I had to push it to N mode to stop the vibration. This is something not expected of a new car.
The only thing that makes this a worthy buy would be the powerful engine and stable ride, and possibly the gearbox from Honda. I felt my current Civic (2006 model) is much more refined, and interior fittings felt better. Just my 2 cents worth - personally I would choose an Altis/Sylphy over this.
What I like
Design
Engine
Gear box
BMW-style cockpit (looks good and everything within comfortable reach, which makes the space feels cramped)
Key less entry
What I do not like
Interior fit and finish - hard plastics, cheap leather seat cover
Computerized speedometer
Hollow door (knock on it to get what I mean)
Smaller interior space than previous generations of civic
Cheap looking steering wheel buttons

Review
I test drove the 1.6 NA engine with CVT gearbox
Perhaps my expectations were raised. Perhaps I read too many overwhelming reviews, especially those from USA saying how quiet the ride is, it turned out to be otherwise. Same for the interior built quality.
I still think it has its appeal, but far from head & shoulder class leading.... The price point is also a bit odd.
Try it, try other cars, and judge it yourself
What I like
Good interior space, especially rear seats (classy leading surely)
The low seats were not that difficult to get in and out of except front passenger
Nice, sporty interior dash
Support Apple Car Play & Android Auto
Good trunk space and opening for its class
Smooth 1.6 drive train (though I have to constantly rev above 3k when taking off)
Light and direct handling
What I do not like
Interior built quality a letdown, too many hard plastics (reflective somemore)
Door panels sounded hollow, and yes; more of the same eye sore hard plastic
Front passenger seat really very low, lower than the rest; not easy to get in & out
While spacious, rear bench lacks thigh support
Poor NVH, the test drive was full of own tyre noise and that from other vehicles

Review
Good car with sufficiently heavy steering, good engine performance and handling - more sporty to drive than the other cars in this class (only if the CVT was changed to DST or manual option was there, then this would have been much better). Low end torque on turbo engine is good and pickup has been smooth. Stiff suspension not only makes the handling good but also compensates for lower ground clearance. Brakes have been good and holds well. Good legroom and space inside and in boot. However the interior is average and needs a lot to improve on design. The USB cable is a pain to connect. Best is to leave the cable there. However, if you and your partner got 2 different types of phones then need to change the cable. The space there is practically useless. The seats are more for sporty nature and doesn't support people who like to cruise. There is no lumbar support and you should keep the seat as much forward and sit as much backward as possible to avoid back ache. And this causes the drive are to be bit cramped. That means the car urgently needs a design change to automatically add the seat positioning system to move the seat back and high to make getting in and out comfortable. Also urgently needs memory seats. Reversing camera is not accurate. Left lane camera is good but when you are using navigation then the camera blocks it the right moment. My rear passenger always complained for getting in and out was difficult and it was like falling in the seat than getting in the seat. A slightly smaller steering wheel would have made it more sporty in character.
Overall an excellent sporty car in the class (you can't go wrong with 1.5T) but if you are looking for comfortable drive and ride between point A and B and also lot of features, then this car is not for you (in fact this will be worst car to look for)
What I like
Engine - Honda designs it cars other way round - they design engine and build the car around it. This is true for this car.
Steering - quite precise and sufficiently loaded / heavy though little understeer is there. A smaller steering wheel would be better.
Stiff body and lower CG - adds confidence in driving and also can go over speedbreakers without stopping the car or scratching the underbody.
Fuel economny - If chose to drive lightly, the fuel economy is excellent. Though I have not achieved but people have reported fuel economy of 17 ~ 20 km/l on their daily rides. However, I found the car fuel consumption drops drastically on expressway if you drive lightly. A definite plus point for sporty car. I think, this is the best in the class in this respect
What I do not like
Lack of lumbar support to help people who like to cruise.
Seat adjustment height is too low. Visibility is poor for short people.
Difficult to connect the USB for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto
Low seating - difficult to get in and out.
(All above serious complaint from my wife)
No wireless charging
Space about USB connection is practically useless.
Reverse camera is not accurate (though mirrors are large enough).
Lack of auto tilting of mirror when reversing.
Lack of autofold of outside mirror (though it can be added later with loss of remove opening of window).
The main controls / settings are on audio / media system instead of steering or honda system. This means that changing the audio / media system is more complicated.
And the worst - the resetting stalk for distance and fuel or selecting the odometer stands out like a sore thumb - the worst design from Honda.

The current generation civic which received a facelift last year has been around since 2016. Went for a test drive about 2 weeks back and the car is beginning to show its age. The exterior design is a love it or hate it affair and the facelift is very subtle. You'd have to be eagle eyed to spot the differences. The 1.6L model sold here is extremely thinly specced for the price. You hardly get any modern day amenities except for a rather smallish 7" Headunit with andriod auto and apple carplay integration on the inside. Only 2 air bags are fitted to the local 1.6l model with no modern day active safety features. The 1.5L turbo version which is a whopping 20k more doesn't fare much better in terms of features with the honda sensing, sunroof, led headlamps and 6 air bags being the most notable differences. Hard to justify the 20k premium even with the more powerful and modern engine. The interior build quality is ok but there is a fair amount of dark hard plastics. On a positive note, the cabin space front and rear is above class average with a sporty driving position as the driver's seat is quite low slung and the boot is quite large as well. The 1.6L engine is a carry over from the past 2 generations of Civic so it's a tried and tested unit which does not offer alot of power but is smooth revving. The power delivery is however blunted by the CVT where you get the typical rubberband effect giving a sense that the gearbox is always playing catch up with the engine. Brakes are quite strong and handling is responsive which have always been a strong suit of the Civic. However, as an overall package with the asking price, it is hard to recommend the civic when compared to other class contenders unless your priorities are a sporty drive and honda reliability.
What I like
1. Cabin space
2. Boot space
3. Handling
4. Driving position
What I do not like
1. Price
2. Lack of safety features
3. Overall cabin qualiity
4. Lack of interior features
5. Design not really aging well

I've driven the 1.6L Honda Civic 10 Gen for almost one year. The noise insulation is much better than the rest of the Japanese cars of the same category. My average fuel consumption is 8.9L/100km (Mostly highway driving). The acceleration is not very good therefore i have to be extra careful to ensure that more than sufficient distance for me to drive into another lane. Once the pick up is there, the car runs pretty well. The sport mode is extremely fun and engaging it would solve the slow acceleration issue. The eco button doesn't save much fuel. Engaging the eco mode significantly decreases car performance. Big boot space and comfortable passenger space. The only issue is the car cannot start properly everyday therefore i've have to use the jump starter cable to jump start the car every morning before i drive. Asked Kah Motor technician to come down to check but they also use jump starter and say its a common issue with this car. A bit of hassle before i drive every morning otherwise its a really good car.
What I like
Sporty exterior
Good fuel efficiency
Fun to drive
Good suspension
Big boot space
Comfortable space for passengers
What I do not like
Cannot start the car properly. System goes haywire and blinking all over before it dies so have to use jump starter cable to jump start the car, otherwise should be ok. Need to invest in a good jump starter.

Test drove the civic on 12 august. Car was decent with good enough engine power, response, space inside and would make a very good point to point car. Comparing with it's peers it lacks in many areas. Most of its peers have 5/7 airbags while it has only2. Apple car play or android auto would have been greatly useful. In car entertainment system could have been better. Interior quality felt cheap. Though i wanted to go for the civic, i didn't as there were many better options available at the same price point
What I like
Honda branding, name and resale value
spacious interiors and boot
smooth engine & drive
What I do not like
customer service was only average - even though we had booked an appointment it took 10-15 mins for them to identify someone to help us
interior looked very cheap and poorly made

Like it or not, 1.6A acceleration from stop is poor. You need the 1.5T to beat an Altis. At higher speed, its handling is perfect!
The only disappointment is fuel efficiency. 12km/l on a good day and on economical mode.
The head unit is a little annoying displaying warning messages and requires the driver to press OK (taking his attention off the roads, or wasting time when starting the car) before moving into menus.
The fuel consumption meter displays litres/100km...
iPhone connects seamlessly and effortlessly. Be in a very good mood before you try to connect any Android via Bluetooth.
The seats are too low for me, but that is not a problem. The driver seat has poor ergonomics. Not to worry, after market add-on to the driver seats are springing up.... I drove my car to a workshop to mod the system, didn't feel too well, and the mechanic immediately showed me the add-ons and the literature on the poor head rest and back rest causing all the discomfort all around the world..... Third parties are quick to attack this market.
As my car broke down minutes after collection, I have to rate it a little lower on reliability, but not too low as the mechanic fixed it promptly.
What I like
The futuristic look and all the features of the car.
What I do not like
Slow on start. Poor ergonomics of driver seat. Heavy on fuel.

HONDA CIVIC 1.6L, 78,000 KM, 4 YEARS AND 6 MONTHS OWNERSHIP, SINCE NEW.
Transmission speed sensor and A/C evaporator core failed in Aug 2021. All warning lights lit up in the dashboard while driving. Aircon was spitting hot air. Both parts cost about US$ 200 on Autozone online seller. Parts pictures are below.
The speed sensor is a minor part that would take less than 15 minutes to replace. The A/C evaporator however, will require the stripping of the whole dashboard. Like our home A/C, the evaporator is dummy piping in a coil. The pipe and seals may leak due to poor quality of gasket and piping material. The lowest-tech parts failed. Come on, Honda. Sensitive part like ECU's microprocessor and memory chips, I understand if they fail under SGP perpetual humid and hot air. A bunch of dumb aluminium pipe and sensor should have lasted for at least 10 years.
Honda Civic reliability (2016-onwards) has been very poor in the US market, especially the 1.5L turbo version. Mine is a low-spec version with 1.6L NA engine. Yet, parts continually break down. I was lucky as parts are still under 5-year warranty but need to pay for labor. That day, Kah Motors supervisor was in good mood and waived the $500 labor charges.
Shock absorbers are flat already at this age, as most cars are. This is shock design-specific and not car brand related. Ride feels like my road bicycle: stiff and jerky. Will need to replace all four shocks yesterday.
Upgraded the sound system while keeping the original Honda head-unit. Apple Music sounds good with Pioneer's GM-DX874 amp, TS-Z65F speaker (2x), TS-Z65C speaker (2x) and TS-WX130DA woofer. Singtrade (160 Sin Ming Drive, 8-02 Autocity) fitted the Pioneer to the Civic. Excellent workmanship but expensive. Honda original sound system was worse than MRT train's PA system.
What I like
New Tourador X-Wonder tyres. China-brand,Thai-made, original size 215/55 R16 tyres at $360 from AL Tyre (32 Old Toh Tuck Rd, Ibiz Centre). No doubt. These tyres are good and fairly priced.
Iroad camera was subjected to a recall after a year of ownership. Not Honda problem. Went to Sin Ming distributor to get it replaced. What a waste of time.
Cabin and boot space, interior design, tech (Apple car play, electric handbrake) are still superior than Corolla Altis. Fuel consumption is still excellent at 6.2L/100km.
Next, will I buy the new 2022 1.5T Civic from Kah Motors ? Absolutely, no. In UK and USA, the car residual value in year 3, is less than 50% of new price, regardless it is a Toyota, Volkswagen, BMW, Merc or Ford, for a simple reason. On year 3+, all cars break down.
Anyhow, I want to sell this Civic now and replace it with Corolla Altis. Any offer ? Its sound system is better than Merc E200's.
What I do not like
Quality is poor.

Bought the 2019 FL 1.6NA Civic. Was bought by the looks and exterior styling of this car that I did not take much notice to the engine and driveability when I test drove the car. Interior space is definitely one of the best in its class with rear aircon. However the infotainment system is laggy and feels like it comes from the 2009-10 era. Exterior looks is one of the best in its class, but the engine is the worst. Old engine which is further restricted by the CVT gearbox and the fuel economy is rubbish for the amount of HP it puts out. And Halogen lights, seriously? Reliability wise is questionable, had a whizzing sound from the engine, went back to agent to check and told that they have no spare parts. Yes you heard it right, a 15 year old Japanese engine with no spare parts. Aircon vents make weird vibrations after 1 year and you can feel the MIT quality which is not as good as the old FD (coming from an FD1). All in all, for the price you pay, there are other better makes out there with better fuel economy and technology available. However, if exterior looks and interior space is your primary concern, this car is a good choice if you do not mind the fuel economy
What I like
Chio exterior styling - Fastback style
Plenty of mods available - For modsters
Super roomy exterior
Handling
The rear crab claw lights - One of its kind
Engine is quiet on the road
Low suspension, gives a very sporty feel
DRL
What I do not like
Rubbish fuel economy - doing about 11.2km/l for a 1.6 engine and only a 2 year old car, I cannot imagine the economy after a few years
Slow and laggy infotainment system that feels like it comes from 2009-10
Sluggish pickup, the CVT gearbox doesnt help
Availability of spare parts from agent
Paint quality that comes off with a light scratch
Safety - 2 airbags, seriously?
No electric chairs
No Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
For the current price, there are 2 brands starting with "S" that can offer much better technology and fuel economy.

Exterior
1) looks good
2) only 1.5T has the LED headlights
3) Car is low =) definitely has that sporty look
4) side mirrors look big! But are actually normal once you sit inside.
5) pretty nice looking stock rims
6) not a fan of the tail lights but hey looks are subjective
7) 1.6L has body colored door handles which is good! Chrome ones looks tacky
Interior
1) the steering wheel has nice leather wrapping. Smooth, good size
2) Steering wheel buttons are ok, volume controls lack abit of tactile feel
3) Seats are nice, not too body hugging, However! The 1.6L has no lumbar support for the driver! Why! Why honda why??? Long drives up north will always need lumbar support.
4) rear seats are quite flat which is good for sitting 3. But the left and right side edges sort of have the seat cut off abruptly.. Big piece of plastic suddenly appears.. Sad
5) 60/40 rear folding seats don't fold flat down... Unlike the old jazz/fit. Abit disappointed.
6)Good to have rear aircon vents
7) boot space is large, big opening also makes putting stuff in easy.
8) however due to the boot also being low, you have to lift up first then pull out your barang barang. In this aspect the CRV is better as the boot floor is flatter.
9) good all around visibility
10) good rear leg room even for tall guys.
Engine
1) 1.6L with CVT is normal, wont excite you even with the paddle shifters. But will do the job for city driving
2) during the drive, it felt smooth, no vibrations
3) ride was quite quiet, for sure quieter than my old vios.
Get it for - smooth quiet engine, nice looks, roomy interior
miss it for - low boot which is not good for old uncles/aunties with back issues.
no lumbar support for the 1.6
What I like
Smooth quiet engine, roomy interior
What I do not like
no Lumbar support
not really flat rear floor when the rear seats are folded.
Low boot - not the easiest to load groceries on the weekends
because of the sudden cut-outs on the left and right for rear passengers, when sitting 3 at the back, will be slightly uncomfortable.

This is a review of the 1.5T version of the Civic
Tested the car at Leng Kee. The test route was unchallenging with no S bends nor hills to really push the engine and suspension. Traffic was heavy, so could not really stretch the legs of the car.
In the short drive I found the car to be a good compromise between able to carry 5 people and driving fun. Reminds me of what the 2005 Subaru Legacy was. But with neither the performance nor poor consumption that the Legacy was known for.
The Civic is fun to drive, with its agility, free-revving engine and smooth power delivery. Acceleration is good for a family car. A slight hint of turbo lag and reluctance of the CVT to shift gears stops the Civic from being a true wolf at traffic lights starts.
Civic will appeal to a younger family man who needs to carry passengers and luggage, but who finds the Camry and Teana too tame in looks and driving experience. The rear is surprisingly spacious, and the boot can take a golf bag with space leftover.
However unlike the Camry or Teana, the Civic does lack a luxurious cabin. At this price point, 1.5T should be match its rivals for a nicer cabin. But it does not.
What I like
Rev happy, refined and smooth DOHC engine
Coupe shape with 4 doors and headroom at rear even for 6-footers
Spacious rear bench for a car this size
Agile cornering
Taut chassis
Rear seat air con vents
Blind spot camera
What I do not like
CVT gearbox is slow to change down and up
Paddle shifters are plasticky
Lack of feel from the electrical steering
Centre tunnel too high
Lack of airbags for head protection
Lack of front seat adjustments (no lumbar support)
Finishing and materials in cabin for the relatively high price

Test drove the 1.6 version Honda Civic , for me a Honda City driver this will be an upgrade of sorts but the price tag is a bit too high at current coe prices, overall if I take out the made in Thailand Equation , although my City was fine but seems like KAH motors is trying to increase her margin. End of the day , hope the Modulo Kit can soon be packaged in as a better deal , saw the Rally Red with Modulo Kit , it really makes my day.
What I like
Exterior Styling
Turbo Option
Honda Engine performance
Got Striking RED colour not those dull Maroon , Ruby and Metallic Red shade.
What I do not like
Price too high
Leather seats can be better quality.
The Stupid Fuel Cap lock which my City had . A simple level will do just fine.

I currently own a FD4 for over 9 years and i am very happy with the card. Wanted to see how the new Civic 1.6 stacks up.
---------------------
Overall not a bad car.
What I like
Exterior styling is good
Car feels solid
Interior space is good
Very quite and goes over bumps without much hassle
Decent features
What I do not like
Price is always a premium
The floor hump at the passenger section. FD4 is flat. This is downgrade in comfort i would say. Makes a big difference while seating 3 people for long distance travel.
The steering wheel switches feel plasticky

Drove the 1.6 that is fitted with the old engine from 2008 model. Good thing is that the engine is tried and tested hence you do not need to worry too much. But i somehow feel that its a new car with an old heart. Fuel consumption is not as good as the other competitors.
What I like
The car is bigger now and there are alot more nice features now. I like the steering volume control on the steering wheel. Cabin is also pretty quiet.
What I do not like
The rear view of the car makes it look dated. With the spoiler it helps but i hope they redesign the rear of the car. Interior can be better if there are more colours that customers can choose from.
The gear box feels rubbery and seem to run on only one gear.

Got the 2017 honda civic and owned it for ~2 years before selling it off. It handles great round corners and sits really low, which gives off that sporty feeling. It's easy to drive and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
However, the fuel consumption is less than desirable. On paper it's 14.9km/L, sales advisor said it's more around 13km/L. The car computer calculates it at around 11.5km/L but when i manually calculate it (distance divided by petrol topped up), i get about 10km/L. This is given that i'm not the most heavy footed person.
There's also not many safety features on the 1.6NA (2 airbags) and at the price point i believe that there are much more value-for-money offerings out there. I personally just got the Mazda 6 as had better value (paid about 4k more as of June 2020).
While there were no major problems with the car, i faced minor quality issues (probably due to the fact that it's Thai built and not from Japan).
Issue 1: Within 3 months I faced a loud clunking sound whenever i jacked the seat down. 2 service advisors told me it was 'perfectly normal'. Had to write a letter of complain and f them before they resolved the issue.
Issue 2: Something was loose in the front passenger seat and rattles when no one seats on it. Kah motor tested it and said it was fine - most definitely not but since i was selling it off i didnt bother with it
Issue 3: The paint was so thin that even my finger nails could cause a visible scratch. I would send my car for yearly coatings as well so i believe the issue could lie with the paint layers.
With the current generation Civic in its 5th year, its appeal has weakened rather dramatically and while the Honda Civic remains a reliable car overall, there are some shortcomings to consider. I recommend shortlisting this car.
What I like
Fun car to drive with great handling
Comfy seats
What I do not like
Poor fuel consumption (Not heavy footed)
(~10km/l on 70% city, 30% highway driving)
(~12km/l on 70% highway, 30% city)
Poor quality
- Paintwork
- Build quality

As you have guessed from my headline, this friend of mine has grown up and his family needs feature rather high on his list of consideration.
Comfort - checked
Fuel efficiency - checked
Driver's aids - checked
Handling - checked
Reliability - checked
Resale value - checked
A large, comfortable sedan that can accommodate 5 passengers and do it with gusto of a turbo charged DOHC VTEC engine.
But don't expect a sports coupe performance (look to Civic Type R instead) and this fine example should give you years of trouble free motoring and happy memories that you can share with good old friends over beer.
What I like
1. Adequate VTEC DOHC engine for daily travel
2. Feature rich - electric hand brake, auto head lights, auto wipers, anti-glare rear mirror
3. Size - adequate for family of five
4. Huge trunk
5. Space saver spare tyre
What I do not like
1. CVT - whine so loud you can barely hear any vtec roar now
2. Electric power steering - somehow robs the feel on the road
3. Sound insulation could be better
4. Leather seats lacks luxury free, not to mention lack of choice of color (reminds me of Henry Ford: you can choose any color as long as it is black)

Collected ride 1 month ago and clocked 3000KM so far. Brought it to Genting last weekend to clear carbon and tested out its handling capabilities.
Changed out stock rims and tyres right after collection of vehicle therefore unable to comment on stock tyres (Hankook Noble S1).
Sound insulation is rather disappointing as I experienced wind noise penetrating through my A-pillar while driving 100km/h-ish. I had to install an additional layer of rubber door seal before my Genting trip. The stock rubber door seals are rather soft, brittle(heard of some cases of rubber cracking) and useless in keeping the wind out. Undercarriage soundproof is not fantastic too.
Engine power wise (mine's a 1.6NA) is still acceptable and sufficient for legal speed limit driving. If you are looking for neck-breaking speed and acceleration, look for the 1.5T or elsewhere
CVT gearbox has an existing bad issue whereby there are some lag in gear ratio selecting resulting in jerking and metal pinging sound during engine braking or pressing the gas after engine braking, usually happens around 73 or 96km/h. Kah motor has no solution to it so far.
Paddle shifters response time is acceptable.
Handling is very good, body roll is minimal.
Interior design is very modern but there are still empty switch spaces which are very unsightly.
Steering wheel buttons feel cheap.
Exterior design is definitely one of the biggest reason of choosing this car. The overall styling is very sleek, low, sporty yet spacious-looking.
What I like
NA engine (10k servicing interval)
Sporty look
Paddle Shifters
Handling
Keyless entry and push start
Apple carplay and Andriod auto compatible HU
Spacious cabin and rear legroom
Rear aircon vents
Huge boot space
Good brakes
Cruise control
Decent fuel consumption
What I do not like
Price (sightly pricey for a MIT model)
16 inch stock rim (very ugly in my opinion and heavy despite being 16inch)
Stock Hankook tyres
Poor sound insulation and lousy rubber door seals
CVT gearbox jerking
Too much chrome
Electronic brakes
Ugly clear side markers
Rikecool solar film given by AD (IR rejection seriously CMI)
Hidden exhaust tip
Paintwork is not fantastic

Owned this car for 2 years, a comfortable car with large space at the rearseats and boot.
Quite stable at high speed, able to over take easily with the turbo engine.
Very reliable,no problem for the past 2 years. Tuned the car with fully stock parts, able to get 33nm of torque on wheels. After tune able to compete with most 2 L turbo cars.
What I like
-Nice look, especially after changing to Type R bumpers
- Larger rear seats and boot space, can put in children bike and a e scooter, quite amazed by it
- Engine quite sporty at stock setup
-Cvt transmission seamless gear change, very silent and no jerking during gear change
- Left Blind spot camera is very useful, don't even need to move my head, if only there is right side camera as well
- Potential car for tuning to make it over 190whp and 330nm torque
- Lots of modifications available for the body kit
What I do not like
-lots of cheap plastic parts
- at the price it could have come with more safety features
-Sound insulation could be better
- default setup does not give a good confidence when going through a bend at high speed
- lousy paint work
- lousy battery that dies in 1 year
- For the price, can consider paying 7 to 9k more for a more powerfull car, skoda rs. Consider that with the tuning , modification of springs, strut bars, rims, wheels bbk, air intake etc, it will easily add up to more than 10k

I bought this car my senior year of high school and truly would go back and do it all over again. For my daily commute and how much i drove, the MPG and reliability were great! I get anywhere from 350 to 500 miles to the tank depending upon where i drive(city/highway) or how had on the pedal i am. I bought the car with 80,000 on the clock and now has 152,000 and have had zero issues other then regular/routine maintenance. I love this car and would recommend it to friends and family or for someone's first car! I am a pretty tall guy and was a little disappointed when i first saw the car but when i got in and realized how much room i had and how comfortable it was i was amazed.
What I like

I have driven the 1.6 NA for 8000 KM. So far overall experience is good, except for some minor issues. The handling is good, I feel it is better than the previous 1.8 FD, especially cornering. Power steering is motorized, so the feedback is not as good as hydraulic.
Good for normal driving. The 1.6 NA takes a bit of effort to achieve fast accelerate (CVT?), but if push it hard enough (drink more petrol), should be able to merge expressway fast & overtaking cars with ease, or get the 1.5T.
Petrol consumption is average, about 12 KM/ litre, 50/50. One reviewer mentioned about CVT gearbox jerking during engine braking or pressing the gas after engine braking, which I have also encountered, but can live with it.
The signal light stick switching are a bit rough, need a little more force to switch left or right signal.
The OEM wiper blades not very smooth, jugger & squeak, even under heavy rain. Tried cleaning the blades & windscreen with glass cleaner, but won't last.
Windscreen quality like not very good, I have noticed a very fine line scratch, probably from sand/ particles rubbing between the wiper & windscreen. This I never encounter before from my previous cars ownership. Glass should be quite hard.
Exterior is sporty & futuristic, lower, longer, wider (but parking will be tighter).
Front & Rear looks great & fierce.
Interior design is clean & good looking, but some area are very plastic. I don't really like the matt surface of the plastic area & the steering wheel cover. Would prefer glossy surface, well...
Electronic hand brake lagging, still prefer mechanical type.
Paint works is lousy, the door's edge paint chip off easily, even a light knock will dent it and paint came off. Advise to stick door guard.
Overall is a good car to drive.
What I like
- Sporty Looks
- Crab Claw Rear lights
- Proven old but smooth engine
- Neat & Sleek interior design
- Brake hold function
- Paddle Shift
- Spacious interior & boot
- Rear AC
- Keyless Start/ Stop
What I do not like
- OEM Wiper blades
- Windscreen seems easily scratched
- Lagging Electronic Handbrake
- Thin paint works
- Price, Thailand made, MIJ Pricing
- Plastic interior, Cheap leather feel
- CVT gear box
- Halogen Lights

Tested this car several times and must say the handling is very good. Multi link suspension at the back does help in corners and road holding.
Tyres are good for the original but feels too stiff and makes the car feel like cannot roll easily at certain speeds.
Though lacking in safety features but the interior is always ahead of the rest, has digital speedometers, good infotainment system with knobs, rear ac. Wouldn't mind 2 airbags, too many airbags may injure and will obstruct the occupants in a crash to get out safety.
What I like
Civic branding lives up to its name
Aircon vents at the rear for pax
Modern design inside and out
Multi link suspension
What I do not like
Rear brake lamps are bulbs which feel hot after a long drive
Led signal lamps would be great
Thin paintwork gets chipped easily

There are a lot of interesting things that are implemented into the new civic the version which i am reviewing if of course the 1.5 turbo one of these new things would be the switch to a turbo engine. The turbo engine while it has "Vtec" Is actually not vtec the further you look into it but rather has vtc(like vvti) and therefore there isnt any "Vtec kicked in" Experince towards the redline which is in my mind for a honda pretty low at 6500rpm other than that the lanewatch is of slight use at night as it can be quite blurr .
Also to note the interior of the car feels very germanish with the exception that the lights dont feel very atas to me amd it felt as if they cheaped out on the interior lighting system in exchange for the mostly soft touch plastic dash.
I would also like to emphasize on the interior storage. For intsance the front doorbins could have been slightly bigger as there is alot of unused space for the front doors. Rear doorbins are more acceptable as passengers usually dont use the doorbins much.
For comfort wise i would say this car is on the rather okok side as the rear seat centre armrest has no strap to pull it out and it is rather low for my liking. Another thing that could be improved is that if they moved the door armrests higher and added grab handles (like those found in Volkswagens). Overall the car is pretty comfortable in its nature with minor nitpicks on the armrests
Things i like:
-Amazing dash build quality
-powerful engine even without vtec
-good comfort
-17" Rims look nice
-exterior looks sorta agressive and sporty
-Good Legroom for rear passenger
-excellent to hear the radio as a back seat passenger due to speaker being directly behind headrests
Things i dont like:
-LCD intrument cluster is a pain on the eyes at night
-lanewatch slightly blurr at night
-All armrest height not to my liking(except centre console one)
-No grab handle on armrest(minor nitpick here as used to vw liao)
-front doorbin could have been bigger
-Front Glovebox could have been bigger (even my dad the 2007 golf GTI got bigger glove box AND have an allocated place to store the manual)
-Buttons on steering wheel dont have the atas german feel (again used to Vw)(makes the plastic tab sound)

Have been driving for last 3 mths & I have to admit this is a very comfortable car from point A to B. I really like the long central arm rest and make it 1 level above the last gen Civic. It looks also much better than the usual Japanese design of simplicity.
The 1.6-litre engine is a familiar one, same R16 engine carried over from the eighth generation FD model. But somehow, I feel this engine is a upgraded one. The CVT - simply to reduce carbon emissions and deliver a blend of performance and efficiency. Driving up North, the cabin is quiet and comfortable, well-suited for a family of 5. Although the drive does not give a spirited type of Fanboy trashing to red line, but it is good enough for highway effortlessly pull without loss of performance. The steering is good with making U-turn a blizz. Steering feedback is good and sharp making one pushing hard for corners. The rear mirror has glare dimmer is a plus. I like best is electronic brake hold in traffic and move off easily.
A very good family car to drive around. The design does last "The loving"
What I like
Transmission is smooth and good gearbox
Electronic brake hold, parking is superb
Good steering feel and feedback
Comfortable and quiet cabin
Carplay is good for iphone user
Fuel efficient and reliable
Nice design and futuristic
Good storage area
What I do not like

I'm thoroughly thrilled to be the owner of the 10th gen civic as my first car. Being my maiden car, I do not have past experiences(of car ownership) which I can kinda pull from for comparison, but here's my experience thus far:
The Good
1) Fantastic exterior styling. I'm 30 years of age and I feel the civic, aesthetically, really suit my age group. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though.
2) Comfortable driver's seating position with plenty of room(leg room, head room, steering wheel position adjustment etc).
3) Good visibility all around.
4) Honda badge = established reliability.
5) Great driving dynamics - handles twisty roads well, steering is precise and brakes feel good.
6) Rear aircon vents for backseat passengers.
7) Roomy for backseat passengers.
The Not-So-Good
1) Pick up for the 1.6NA is so-so but the 1.5T is too pricey for me now, and since I'm on SG roads and a civilised driver, I can live with this.
2) Interior is a tad blend. Infotainment system isn't as good as the continental counterparts.
3) Paint work doesnt seem to be quality in my opinion.
4) Lack of safety features. Think 1.6 variant only has 2 airbags as compared to 6 for the turbo. Standard safety features should apply across all variance bar the bells and whistles.
Overall, if anyone is in the market for a first car, this is definitely worth considering. It looks stylish and sporty, and overall offers plenty of comfort for driver and all passengers. The 2019 mazda 3 may give it a run for its money, and the avante may prove to return excellent value dollar-for-dollar, but personally the civic has pipped its rivals in similar class range to the post with its overall package.

Recently bought the 1.5T Civic after test driving 1-3 models each from 6 other brands as well (Mazda, Kia, Nissan, Hyundai, Toyota, Skoda) either from dealers or friend's cars. Was going for a compact sedan which looks handsome, drives well, provides decent power and good fuel economy. Ended up narrowing down to between Kia cerato sports or Stinger, Mazda 3 or 6, Skoda Octavia 1.4 or 2.0 and this. Personally for me I decided to go for this as this car suits me and is at a price range I am more comfortable with.
What I like
Love that it is low slung with awesome chasis to handle corners
Highway and city driving 50-50. Fuel Consumption(FC) between 7 to 7.5L/100Km with a heavy foot. My FC is ard 5.5 to 6.5L/100km on days I take it easy.
The Sunroof looks gr8 with a beautiful black jagged front when opened as compared to others that is plain, or have netting
The power of the car makes it feel so effortless and smooth
Steering is light and responsive
Electric auto handbrake when stop, giving my legs loads of rest
Without the physical handbrake, the front console and armrest is HUGE and gives that added comfort when driving for sure
Huge leg room for both front and rear passenger
Dual aircon as well as rear aircon
Lane assist is extremely helpful once you get used to it
The front usb, hdmi and power socket points have an area to tuck wires making the car look so neat and clean
High Resale Value
Lastly, the car is just too sexy, I think I'm falling in love with it....
What I do not like
No memory seat which is made harder as electric seats have alot of settings to recall. Not rly an issue if only 1 person driving most of the time.
No ventilated seats which I guess comes in handy with our hot climate.
No area to put shades usually located just behind the front cabin lights. Placing mine in the dashboard as a result.
No Honda Sensing, would be nice to have this feature for 1.5T
Wish it comes with a manual transmission

As a previous owner of Honda (Jazz), the ride has not failed to live up to its hype. It is great looking, powerful (speaking from the angle of 1.5T) and a fun ride (with some enhancements done, e.G. Tuning / sound proofing). With the above, the ride has always give me a face full of smiles when driving it.
What I like
Almost everything! (the imperfections are listed under "What i do not like")
What I do not like
1. The LOUSY paint quality finishing.
2. The loose sunroof that produces knocking/vibrating sound when on the move

The latest iteration of the well loved Honda Civic defines Honda's progress in the turbo-charged class.
For the longest time, Honda has been sticking to it's powerful and yet efficient naturally aspirated engine. But with advances in its' ever famous VTEC tagline, now it can boast the new supremacy era, the VTEC Turbo. The 1.5 turbo charged model feels comfortable and it oozes oomph when the pedal is lightly depressed. At the same time, the cabin feels quiet and well built even though there's plastics in some area.
The all new Civic has exterior styling of lines and angles, a much improvement over her dated-curvy past. Huge pentagonal grilles dominate the front and rear corners making it fierce looking without losing it's signature Honda look.
Stepping into the cabin, you'll a logical and better-assembled dash board than it's predecessor. Apple Play comes standard and it's a big welcome to everyone, even to the least tech savvy drivers.
The seating arrangements are much lower than before to make it feel sporty but overall still comfortable as there is more than sufficient room space to maneuver. The steering grip is tight, making the driver confident even in abrupt corners. However, the rear passenger floor no longer comes flat and there's a noticeable hump which makes the centre sitting passenger awkward.
Overall, the all new 10th generation Honda Civic makes an interesting entrance from the forgettable 9th. Kah Motor's decision to bring in the Thai built may dampen some loyal MIJ-Only buyers but with all the enhancements, everyone will eventually overlook this point.
What I like
Honda's reliability
Sporty and stylish exterior
Modern dashboard
Punchy engine
Apple Play
What I do not like
Pricey
Rear hump on floor
Very low seating
Not Made in Japan

As an FD driver, was curious to try out the new civic. Went to Leng kee to test drive the 1.5T and like most bros here, agree on the power.
CVT wasn't as bad as I imagined it to be, though a 6spd/8spd torque converter 0r Dual Clutch would be better, secretly hoping that an old sch 6 spd manual option would surface someday too hahaha
Design wise, really not bad both inside and out. Can't say much about reliability as the car is still new, but the build quality seems acceptable though there are some evident cost cutting areas in the interior (compared to FD), but it's something I think most can live with. The only thing I didn't really like were the flimsy feeling steering wheel switches, which feel like they would fall off anytime (esp since FD has very good steering wheel controls)
I think the price is reasonable for both versions and am quite tempted to upgrade now..Hmmm
What I like
Performance
Design
Features (1.5T)
Interior space
Handling
What I do not like
Obvious cost cutting in interior trim pieces
Flimsy steering wheel control switches
Not "Made In Japan" anymore

Have always been in love with the civic since I was a boy and finally managed to purchase it in Nov 19! I bought the 1.6NA as I read that there were a number of issues with the 1.5T. Was looking for a reliable car with little problems.
Compared this car with the Mazda 3, Kia Cerato, Nissan Slyphy and Toyota Altis. Here are my thoughts.
Mazada 3 - Really plush cabin and refined. But I do find it a tad to cramp when I set the front seat to my driving position and tried to sit behind. Sitting 3 abreast is challenging too. Engine performance feels wanting.
Kia Cerato - Value for money. It has every bell and whistle but I do wonder how often I would use all the features. The drive feels normal, nothing to shout out about.
Nissan Slyphy - Point A to B car in summary. But I dont like it as it is a little 'uncle'. Pardon me if this offense anyone, it is my 2 cents.
Toyota Altis - At that point, the new altis was not launched in sg yet. So this would be comparing it with the previous gen. It is a really comfortable car but i think I would only want this when I am a little older.
Honda Civic - I may be biased but I do like the looks, the drive feel and instrument cluster. It is still a bread and butter car but it takes the corners slightly better than the rest (that being said the Mazda 3 is quite good too in this department). However, it cannot be all good right? I'll list it down below.
What I like
1. The drive
2. The styling
3. The aftermarket support - Throw in a set of coilover, BBK, lightweight rims, a good tune and you'll have a great drive.
4. Reliable - It is NA afterall and the engine within is quite hard to destroy. If you know, you know.
5. Brake Hold feature
6. Getting around 15 to 16km/l on a 75% Highway/ 25% City driving pattern.
What I do not like
1. Not much features given the slight premium you pay over the competition.
- Halogen really?
2. It really isn't well built compared to its made in UK brethren. Once you compare you'll know.
3. There are like some loose gravel vibrating in the A pillars. It is not really irritating but just know its there.
4. I must say the interior perceived quality has been improved compared to the FD. But it is very typical Jap car material (except the Mazda 3).
5. Road noise being transmitted into the cabin - Not a deal breaker for me but could be for some.

Had been driving the 1.6NA for close to a month and clocking mileage of 1500km.
When deciding to get a car to replace my COE due FD, was looking at Altis, Qashqai, City and Civic. Decided to test drive both City and Civic and was completely sold to it.
What I like
1) Sporty design
2) comfort and great handling
3) good mileage :- had been achieving around 7.5l/100km consistently for the past 3 pumps.60% city 40% highway.
4) nice interior design which have the continental car feel
5) spacious cabin space
6) thoughtful design of all the sockets and USB ports.
7) keyless entry and engine start/stop
What I do not like
1) the head unit : limited apps for CarPlay. Unable to install any GPS navigation apps even though there is GPS antenna in the HU.
2) Plastic parts on some of the dashboard and side panels which easily scratch if you have long fingernails.
3) paintwork feels thin at the edges of the door.
4) Headlight is yellow halogen bulb while DRL is white. Looks a bit weird at night when you turn on the headlights.
