Mercedes-Benz Singapore has launched the new GLA-Class, which reinterprets the fast-growing compact SUV segment in convincing style.

At 4,417mm by 1,804mm by 1,494mm (L x W x H), the compact GLA-Class is highly manoeuvrable in the urban jungle
The GLA-Class rounds off the extensive Mercedes-Benz SUV portfolio that includes the G-Class, the GL-Class and the ML-Class. At the same time, the GLA-Class is the fourth new compact model from Mercedes-Benz, after the A-Class, the B-Class and the CLA-Class.

The GLA-Class has great visual appeal, thanks to its low greenhouse, raised vehicle body and large wheel arches.

The clearly defined surfaces are supplemented with sharp lines that provide definition and prevision, varying the sculptured contours of the vehicle body which is sensitively modelled and subtly dramatic.

The high-quality appointments, developed with a loving attention to detail and the versatile interior clearly positions the GLA-Class as a compact premium SUV.

As a day-to-day companion, the GLA-Class has a flexible and variable interior. The rear seats backrests can not only be folded down completely, but are also angle-adjustable if required.

The rear backrests can be adjusted at a 15-degree angle, allowing the boot space to swell by 60 litres to 481 litres
The large luggage compartment of 421 litres is well laid-out and can be accessed without difficulty thanks to the low loading sill and wide tailgate, which opens and closes automatically with the optional EASY-PACK luggage compartment door.

At launch, two petrol and one diesel variant will be offered. The GLA200 features a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine with 156bhp and 250Nm of torque while the GLA250 4MATIC features a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that produces 211bhp and 350Nm of torque.

This allows the GLA250 4MATIC to finish the century sprint in 7.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 230km/h, with excellent fuel consumption and emissions of 6.5L/100km and 151g/km of CO2 respectively.

On the other hand, the GLA200 CDI with a 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine excels with dynamic torque and outstanding efficiency. With 136bhp and a generous 300Nm of torque, the GLA200 CDI goes from 0 to 100km/h in 9.9 seconds but consumes only 4.3L/100km of fuel with 114g/km of CO2 emissions.

All engines are mated to the 7G-DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission and feature ECO start/stop function as standard.

The high-performance GLA 45 AMG with 360bhp and 450Nm of torque is also slated to arrive in the later part of this year.
