As RUF celebrates 76 years of history, Specialised Automobiles is reintroducing RUF in Singapore. The unveiling of the new showroom at 10 Chang Charn Road heralds a new chapter for the famed German manufacturer, which had a brief stint here in the 1990s.
Two highlights of the event were the local debuts of the RUF flagship hypercar, the RUF CTR3 Clubsport, and the 3800S.
Designed and manufactured by the internationally renowned German sports car manufacturer, the RUF CTR3 Clubsport reflects the true value of RUF: driveability, reliability and longevity. With a top speed of 380km/h, it is one of the fastest cars in the world accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 3.1 seconds.
Equally at home on the roads or on the track, the mid-engined CTR3 features strong yet lightweight and aerodynamic carbon-kevlar bodywork covering a stiff tubular chassis combined with the famous RUF integrated roll cage and race bred pushrod rear suspension.
Power is provided by a turbocharged flat-six engine producing an impressive 777bhp and 980Nm of torque. The Clubsport model features additional carbon fibre enhancements to the wings, door sills, rear deck lid, roof-mounted air duct and a fixed rear spoiler, enhancing that race car feel.
Merging the agility of the mid-engined chassis 981 Porsche Boxster with the power of the 911 Carrera S drivetrain, the RUF 3800S is not merely just a heart transplant.
RUF has added special touches including unique body styling with carbon fibre elements and the unmistakable RUF alloy wheels. Every detail receives attention, from the legendary RUF logo on the seats, RUF steering wheel, gear selector and aluminium pedals with numerals in classic RUF green on the speedometer.
The 3.8-litre engine taken from the Carrera S now produces 420bhp, 20bhp more from the standard engine and an astounding 105bhp more than the Boxster S, boasting an output of 450Nm of torque.
With a top speed of 300km/h, the convertible sprints to 100km/h in 4.1 seconds. The 3800S is available with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed double-clutch transmission.
Prices for both cars are P.O.A as of press time.
