Volkswagen is continuing its product offensive, this time in the segment of compact MPVs, with the introduction of the new Sportsvan.
The new 1.4-litre TSI engine produces 125bhp and 200Nm of torque, enabling a top speed of 200km/h and a sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 9.9 seconds. At the same time, fuel consumption is extremely low, achieved with the help of a stop-start system and a range of BlueMotion Technology efficiency improvement measures.
On the inside, the focus is on maximum on-board comfort. The extended wheelbase means that there is generous space in the rear, whilst the split rear bench seat allows the 500-litre cargo capacity to be expanded to 1,520 litres with the rear seats folded down.
The Sportsvan also features technologically advanced features, including an electronic parking brake, proactive occupant protection system, automatic post-collision braking system, Park Assist park steering assistant, and a driving profile selector.
The Sportsvan is available in two versions - Comfortline and Highline. The Comfortline is extremely well equipped, with features like Climatronic dual-zone climate control, automatic headlamps and wipers, driving profile selection, cruise control with speed limiter and 17-inch alloy wheels as standard.
The Sportsvan Highline gets additional equipment including 18-inch alloy wheels, sports suspension, KESSY keyless entry and starting, bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights, a panoramic sunroof and a rear view camera. It also has the latest generation Discover Pro navigation system featuring App-Connect.
The Sportsvan Comfortline costs $124,800 while the Highline costs $138,800 as of press time.
