29 Apr 2016|1,057 views
Traffic was affected for about 12 hours yesterday as the authorities cleaned up a 300 metre-long oil spill along Tampines Avenue 9, reported The Straits Times.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted to the spill at 2:40am and dispatched a fire engine to clean the road. The National Environment Agency and Land Transport Authority were also involved in the clean-up and resurfacing of the affected stretch, which ran towards Tampines Street 44.
One of the road's two lanes was closed off until the work finished at about 2:30pm. It is not known what caused the spill. There have been at least four major oil spills this year which required resurfacing of the road, causing major traffic snarls.
