Over 60 MyCarForum (MCF), together with their partners and family, gathered at the Toyota showroom last Friday night to attend the MCF Hangout with Follow Me Japan (FMJ). The event, a unique collaboration between sgCarMart and FMJ, was an opportunity for MCF members to learn about the different Hokkaido Fly & Drive holiday tour packages.
Over a casual buffet dinner, MCF members heard from Desmond Chan, sgCarMart Automotive Journalist, along with several representatives from FMJ. As an introduction to the event, Desmond shared some of his road trip experiences, and spoke about why it can be an interesting and viable alternative to traditional tour-led holidays.
Subsequently, guests also heard from Mr. Ven Nishimura, Chairman of FMJ. With over 35 years of experience, Mr. Nishimura has helped grow FMJ into the foremost expert of travel to Japan. He has been recognised for his accomplishment in pioneering Fly & Drive travel to Hokkaido, and is also designated as VISIT JAPAN Ambassador for his contribution to the Japan Tourism industry.
Guests also heard from several representatives from FMJ. They highlighted some of the key attractions in Hokkaido, as well as the varying routes that the two different tour packages will entail. Key attractions include Mt. Yotei, Otaru Town, as well as the newly included Chitose Motor Land, offering driving enthusiasts the chance to drive go-karts. Of course, there are also many opportunities to savour culinary delights, including ice cream, Le Tao cheesecake and Kitakaro cream puffs.
To simulate the treasure hunt activity that will take place during the Hokkaido tour, MCF members also took part in a small game of treasure hunt. They had to answer questions about several Toyota car models, as well as to search for hidden photographs among the different Toyota cars located around the showroom.
The FMJ Hokkaido Fly & Drive tour package offers a unique way of experiencing Hokkaido. Unlike traditional tours, the Fly & Drive package offers customers the luxury of travelling at their own pace and by themslves, rather than being caught up in a big tour group. Since the drive isn't conducted in a convoy style, customers are encouraged to travel at their own pace, and can following the English language GPS system installed in the cars. In-house FMJ staff will also assist customers through a GPS-enabled phone. The Fly & Drive experience also offers them the chance to experience the joy of driving on Hokkaido's scenic roads.
Customers can choose from a wide variety of Toyota models to rent from, including the Vitz, the Corolla Altis, the Prius and the Vellfire. Additionally, a newly introduced 'Premium' class include models like the Harrier and the 86, offering drivers a more distinct and unique driving experience.
