The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded its best rating possible, Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+), to the 2018 Kia Sorento built after May 2017 when equipped with newly acceptable-rated head lights offered on the SX Limited and the SX with Advanced Technology package.
To qualify for TSP+, the IIHS testing parameters require a vehicle to have 'good' ratings in five crashworthiness tests - small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side impact, roof strength and head restraints - as well as an 'advanced' or 'superior' rating for front crash prevention and an 'acceptable' or 'good' rating in head light testing.
The 2018 Kia Sorento, built at Kia's U.S.A manufacturing plant in West Point, Georgia, offers refined utility and advanced technology, as well as a new convenience package - the LX Cool & Connected Package - for greater flexibility. In addition, a third-row seat is now standard on all 3.3-litre V6 and 2.4-litre I-4 AWD models, and optional on 2.4-litre I-4 FWD models. Available advanced driver assistance systems include Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Blindspot Detection and Lane Departure Warning.
