In the first round of bidding in May, COE prices continue to rise, with all car categories recording an increase.

COE prices continue on its upward trend, with Cat A recording the biggest increase in this round
Premiums for Cat A, for cars up to 1,600cc in engine capacity and with an output of no more than 130bhp, increased by $3,505 (10.55%) and ended at $36,704.

Premiums for Cat B, larger cars with more than 130bhp or engine displacements larger than 1,600cc, increased by $10 (0.02%) and ended at $48,010.

In Cat E, the open category, premiums went up by $92 (0.17%), with premiums closing at $52,502.

The increase in COE premiums for cars comes as no surprise. The recently concluded Cars@Expo at the end of April may have contributed to the demand in new car registrations, working against the decline in COE supply currently from the month of May to July.
