The Singapore launch of the brand new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe took place at the Ritz-Carlton on Friday, 14 June. The new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe melds dynamic performance suitable for the race track with the high everyday comfort of a Gran Turismo.
Drawing on the expressive design language of the AMG GT family, the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe adopts a flowing silhouette with a low greenhouse and dynamic fastback, underscoring its sporty focus.
The muscular front-end is characterised by a broad, low-drawn 'shark nose' under a stretched bonnet, LED head lights with carbon fibre elements, and AMG-specific radiator trim and front apron.
The broad and flat rear-end features narrow LED tail lamps with dynamic turn signals, while the multi-stage extendible rear spoiler also serves as an important element of the car's active aerodynamics.
Inside, there are a number of modern high-tech features, including eight high-resolution display buttons that form an innovative control panel in the centre console.
Also, the AMG Performance steering wheel features new AMG steering wheel buttons, while the fully-digital Widescreen Cockpit has a new 'Supersport' display style that underscores the car's dyanmic personality.
The rear bench can also be configured in three ways. As standard, the GT 4-Door Coupe is a focused 2+2, but it can also be configured with a full three-seat rear bench, as well as the optional High-Class Rear Sears that includes a touchpad screen integrated into the console between the two rear seats.
At launch, two variants of the car will be available - the GT 63 S and the GT 53. The GT 63 S is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine producing 630bhp and 900Nm of torque, with power sent to all four wheels via the 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system.
This allows the GT 63 S to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 3.2 seconds. As standard, the GT 63 S comes equipped with an electronically controlled rear-axle differential lock, as well as rear-axle steering.
The GT 53 features a 3.0-litre in-line six engine that produces 429bhp and 520Nm of torque. An integrated EQ Boost starter-alternator offers an additional electric boost of 16kW and 250Nm of torque, while also generating power for the 48V on-board electric system used to supply power to information systems in the cockpit.
The GT 53 is no shoddy performer, either, capable of hitting 100km/h from a standstill in just 4.5 seconds.
To deliver a wide-ranging dynamic capability suitable for both daily and track driving, the GT 4-Door Coupe has up to six AMG Dynamic Select drive programmes, accessible via the AMG steering wheel buttons.
A new feature within the Dynamic Select drive programs is AMG Dynamics - this integrated driving dynamics regulation influences the ESP control strategy, all-wheel drive system, rear-axle steering and rear-axle differential lock, thus increasing agility without negatively affecting the car's stability.
It utilises a variety of sensors to anticipate the driver's inputs, and tailors the car to suit the driver's driving behaviour and style.
