Combining sophisticated elegance and innovative operation with supreme driving dynamics and exclusive comfort is just part of the vast repertoire that buyers of the new BMW 7 Series will come to expect.

The ergonomics of the cabin has received a boost with the repositioning of the wireless phone charging port and button clusters on the steering wheel
BMW Asia and Performance Motors Limited have announced the availability of the updated BMW 7 Series flagship. Built in their largest European production site at Dingolfing, The new 7 series now not only sports a comprehensively updated exterior, but also hosts a whole slew of changes to the interior, including a sumptuous leather trim, optimised acoustic comfort, the BMW Operating System 7.0 and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, encapsulating the luxury sedan as a haven of well-being and comfort on the move.

Now sold as a Long-wheelbase variant, the wheelbase length of 3,210mm ensures an abundance of space and opulence. On the inside, the 7 Series now comes with Exclusive Nappa leather as standard, with extended quilting available as an option (standard on the BMW 740Li Visionary).

Extensive reworking of the rear wheel arches, sound insulation elements in the B-pillar area, seatbelt outlet covers, and the rear seat backrest work to reduce interior noise levels. Connectivity and ergonomics is also enhanced with the repositioning of the smartphone tray immediately in front of the cupholders, giving the driver an unobstructed view to the phone while it is charging, as well as a modified button layout on the steering wheel.

Those that opt for the BMW 740Li Visionary model will also be able to access entertainment functions and driver-independent navigation from the comfort of two 10-inch full-HD displays complete with a Blu-ray player. Meanwhile, the BMW Touch Command unit - a removable tablet with a screen diagonal of seven inches - can be used from any seat and even outside of the vehicle, allowing the occupants to operate comfort functions such as seat adjustment, interior lighting and climate control, as well as the infotainment, navigation and communication systems.

On the exterior the car now features a prominent BMW kidney grille. Larger by 40% compared to its predecessor - it is framed by a single-piece surround and features bars in high-gloss chrome. Active air flap control opens the vanes of the grille when the need for cooling air is increased, ensuring aerodynamic efficiency is not compromised.

The rear of the car now features a full-width LED light strip for a distinctive night design
The rear of the car has also been reworked to feature slimmer three-dimensional LED taillights to cut a sophisticated and precise figure. A slim light strip now sits below the chrome bar, which extends across the full width of the tailgate and connects the rear lights with each other, generating a characteristic and highly distinctive night design.

The BMW 7 Series is now available with petrol engines using four and six cylinders, with the 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit putting out 261bhp and 400Nm of torque, and the 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine capable of 335bhp and 450Nm. Those more conscious of their carbon footprint can also opt for the BMW 745Le xDrive plug-in hybrid with a maximum electric range of 54km and a total combined output of 394bhp and 600Nm of torque.

To ensure that all occupants are kept safe, the Driving Assistant Professional package is fitted as standard on the BMW 7 Series. Included in this package is the Collision and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking function, which can alert the driver to approaching cyclists.

Departure Warning and Lane Change Warning systems help the driver guide the vehicle back onto the correct path with an active steering input. Another of the package's components is the evasion aid, which helps the driver direct the vehicle into a clear adjacent lane with steering inputs, as soon as an evasive manoeuvre is detected, ensuring safe avoidance from potential collisions.
