Cycle and Carriage Kia is offering the new Sorento SUV in Singapore, adding to Kia's latest global lineup of SUVs in Singapore.

The fourth generation Sorento is equipped with a new 2.2-litre Smartstream turbocharged diesel engine producing 197bhp and 440Nm of torque to propel the seven-seater SUV with ease. The Sorento will also feature Kia's next generation eight-speed wet Dual-Clutch Transmission (8DCT).

The Sorento's new four-cylinder 2.2-litre Smartstream turbocharged diesel engine is now cast in aluminium, shaving 38.2kg off the weight of the cast-iron engine found in the previous generation.

The new engine is paired with Kia's new 8DCT designed to offer the smooth shifting characteristics of a conventional automatic. It enhances fuel efficiency by up to 3% over a conventional automatic transmission and yet provides a sportier driving experience with direct shifting feel.

The Sorento is the most high-tech car that Kia ever made, thanks to a suite of technologies that enhance safety, connectivity and infotainment, based around twin digital displays in the dashboard.

The cabin features Kia's new 12.3-inch high-resolution digital instrument cluster with the Blind-Spot View Monitor. It is also combined with the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system to display information within the driver's line of sight to create a seamless design for a wide-screen user experience.

The car's functions can be controlled with new haptic buttons on either side of the screen. The Surround View Monitor can be seen through the touchscreen infotainment system, where four cameras aids the driver in parking. The infotainment system also comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Sorento offers a suite of active and passive safety features such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems that helps to reduce the inherent hazards and stresses of driving, protecting occupants and other road users. It consists of the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist technology with pedestrian, cyclist and vehicle detection that also detects oncoming traffic when making a turn at a junction.

Fitted with a techonology suite that enhances safety, connectivity and infotainment, the new Sorento is the most high-tech Kia ever made
The Sorento is also available with Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA). The LKA controls acceleration, braking and steering depending on the vehicles in front, up to 180km/h. It uses camera and radar sensors to maintain a safe distance from the car in front, while monitoring road markings to keep the Sorento in the centre of its lane.

The cabin is equipped with LED interior lighting that emits a soft ambient downlight from beneath the dashboard and door trim. The base of the centre console has a wireless smartphone charger, and a Bose surround-sound system is also available to provide a more immersive in-car audio experience.

The new Sorento provides superior space for people and cargo, boasting one of the most versatile and spacious cars in its class. With all seven seats in place, the Sorento is not just designed for the driver, but also with the comfort of all occupants in mind.

Heated and ventilated front seats come as standard on all trim levels of the new Sorento
Passengers in the second row will have dedicated aircon vents and USB ports, while those in the third row can enjoy dedicated aircon vents as well, and benefit from easier access thanks to a control that allows users to fold down the second-row seats at the touch of a button. Even with the third row up, there is still 187 litres of boot space.

The front of the Sorento displays a wider 'tiger-nose' shape that wraps around the integrated LED daytime running lights on each side. Its bodywork incorporates sharp lines and creases, with more contemporary geometric details and elongated proportions.

The new Sorento is 1,900mm wide and 4,810mm long, which is 10mm wider and 10mm longer than its predecessor, yet it has shorter front and rear overhangs. The additional length is found in the wheelbase, which has grown by 35mm to 2,815mm.

It also extends the length of the bonnet, drawing the A-pillar 30mm further back from the front axle. The trailing edge of the bonnet wraps around the front wings and turns into a single, strong character line which extends along the side of the Sorento and into the rear lamps.

Tune in to the digital premiere of the new Sorento on Kia Singapore Facebook Page, here, on 17 October 2020 at 8:30pm for an exclusive launch offer from Cycle and Carriage.
