The new Toyota Harrier has arrived in Singapore, combining elegant yet bold design with a leading suite of safety and tech features.

Borneo Motors has launched the new Toyota Harrier in Singapore.

The new Harrier sports a front design that offers sharp and fearless styling through the continuity of lines flowing from the front upper grill through to its auto-levelling LED headlamps, enabling it to be easily distinguished from a distance.

The combination of a narrowed cabin with sports car-like wheel housings extending from both sides of the body gives a generous ruggedness from the flank, while the rear now sports LED taillights that run the entire width of the car for a unique light signature at night.

The luxury variant of the hybrid will receive a body-coloured spoiler at the rear, which is finished in black otherwise.

A total of six muted colours are available to local shoppers to show the car's sculpted body panels.

In the cabin, the new Harrier employs low-contrast browns and blacks to offer a calming atmosphere and an interior style that is described as both chic and mature.

The centre console is said to be inspired by a horse's saddle, and offers a wide and imposing impression which pairs with the sizable 8.0-inch Touchscreen Multimedia System display. The infotainment system supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

A 7.0-inch multi-info display sports a three-dimensional sunburst scale speedometer and combines with a large 10.5-inch Head-Up Display to give the driver all the necessary information he/she needs on the road.

The Luxury variant of the Harrier also gets a Digital Inner Mirror which utilises a wide-angle high-definition camera to provide provides superior rear visibility unobstructed by passengers or luggage The digital mirror also automatically reduces glare from vehicles and increases brightness at night for outstanding visibility during night drives.

This variant will also get a Dimmable Panoramic Moonroof. The moonroof utilises Electro-chromic glass technology to allow occupants to choose between a transparent or frosted setting, should they prefer to enjoy a softly diffused light in the cabin of their Harrier.

Boot space stands at 396 litres, and can be accessed via a hands-free power back door for all variants.

The new Harrier sits upon the Toyota New Global Architecture (GA-K) platform, offering a highly rigid body with a low centre of gravity. The platform utilises MacPherson struts at the front and a double wishbone setup at the rear to deliver both ride comfort and driving performance.

Two engine options are available for the Toyota Harrier. Those shopping for a petrol-only car will have a 170bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 203Nm of torque, paired with Toyota's Direct Shift Continuously Variable Transmission.

The two hybrid variants meanwhile, utilise a 2.5-litre four-cylinder and deliver a combined system output of 215bhp. The hybrids put their power onto the road via an eCVT. The century sprint is completed in 9.7 seconds for the petrol-only option, while the hybrid drivetrain will do the same in 8.1 seconds.

The Toyota Safety Sense suite of driver assistance and safety features in the Toyota Harrier include Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist and Lane Departure Alert among others.
