You could soon be watching your favourite YouTube videos while waiting for your Volvo to charge its batteries.
Volvo has announced that YouTube video playback will be coming to all Volvo cars with Google built-in. The announcement comes just weeks after the announcement that Polestar vehicles will be getting the Vivaldi web browser on their Android Automotive OS-powered infotainment system.
YouTube will be the first video platform to be featured and available for download in Volvo cars on Google Play. This is the beginning of enabling video streaming in cars. Volvo stresses that videos can only be played when the car is fully stationary, for safety reasons.
In addition to video playback, Volvo Cars and Google have also announced that customers will soon be able to download navigation apps like Sygic and Flitsmeister, on top of charging apps like Chargepoint and Plugshare, and parking apps like SpotHero and ParkWhiz, where available.
