To start, the car comes only in Black or, optionally, in Jet Black Metallic, the same colour of very first Porsche Design product, the Chronograph I.

Platinum, meanwhile has been used as an accent colour for the special edition car, elevating the Black paintwork in the same way chrome details used to. Use of it includes the Targa bar (in a satin finish), alongside the 'Porsche Design' decorative film on the doors.

The Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition 911 also sits on rims that are painted in Platinum, while at the rear, a 'Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition' badge on the slats of the rear lid grille.

In the cabin, the car continues on the colour scheme with its Sport-Tex equipment with special leather features in Black, while the contrasting seams are Slate Grey.

Eighteen-way electrically adjustable Adaptive Sports Seats feature centre panels that sport a classic check pattern in Black and Cool Grey
The centre panels of the seats meanwhile, sport a classic check pattern in Black and Cool Grey. The special edition car also comes with the Sport Chrono Package as standard, with the Porsche Design clock on the dashboard here sporting its second hand is red - another shared trait with the Chronograph I from 1972.

The headrests of the car are embossed with the 'Porsche Design 50th Anniversary' logo, which can also be found on the black, brushed aluminium door entry guards.

The Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition 911 is based on the 911 Targa 4 GTS, equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-litre, flat-six engine that delivers 473bhp and maximum torque of 570Nm. The car can be had either with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, or a seven-speed manual gearbox.

A Chronograph 1 - 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition timepiece can also be had with the car, with its limited edition number engraved on the back of the case, inextricably linking the watch and the sports car.
