Bentley has revealed that it will be developing and building its first-ever battery-powered electric vehicle at its Crewe facility in the U.K.
Scheduled to roll off the production line in 2025, the car is described as a crucial step in the company's Beyond100 strategy - the ground-breaking plan launched in 2020 that will ensure Bentley is exclusively electric and end-to-end carbon neutral by 2030.
Alongside this 2025 due date is another Five-in-Five plan, which will see the firm revealing a new electric model every year starting from 2025. The aggressive rollout is expected to redefine its credentials as the benchmark manufacturer in sustainable luxury mobility.
The push for electrification also comes as a product of a new $4.53 million investment, designed to allow a fundamental reinvention of the manufacturing infrastructure at the Crewe site.
The historic location is said to be destined to become what Bentley describes as a 'Dream Factory' - a digital, zero environmental impact, flexible and high-value manufacturing facility.
The new facility will also aid in Bentley's goal of reducing water consumption, waste to landfill and other environmental impacts for every vehicle built in Crewe to an absolute minimum until 2030. The firm already reached the goal of achieving carbon neutral production at the site since 2019.
