Prodrive has revealed a new 600bhp, four-wheel drive all-terrain adventure vehicle it is calling the Hunter.

The Hunter is based on the Bahrain Raid Xtreme competition car driven by nine-time World Champion Sebastien Loeb to compete at the Dakar Rally.

All-round double wishbone suspension with twin adjustable dampers on each corner offer up to 400mm of travel
However, the Prodrive Hunter has had its power output from its 3.5-litre V6 increased by 50% compared against the competition car. The Prodrie Hunter also gets increased suspension travel in order to better absorb harsh terrain.

Designed by Ian Callum, the Prodrive Hunter also gets increased refinement, thanks to a new interior designed for everyday use as opposed to racing. The centre console of the road car gets more traditional controls, while a new digital display will deliver the drive all needed driving information.

The Prodrive Hunter also has the coemption car's manual sequential gearbox replaced with a six-speed paddle shifter, which is able to deliver smooth changes in just milliseconds.

This combines with the increased power output to give the Prodrive Hunter an estimated zero to 100km/h sprint time of less than four seconds and a top speed of nearly 300km/h. However, customers will note that the vehicle is fitted with bespoke 35-inch off-road tyres designed to optimise grip over rough terrain and sand rather than driving on tarmac.

The whole car is built around a high tensile steel space frame chassis, giving both a rigid platform to optimise the suspension geometry and performance and an FIA standard safety cage to protect the occupants.

All-round double wishbone suspension with twin adjustable dampers on each corner are said to offer a greater ability to cross the rough terrain at speeds than in any other vehicle. The Prodrive Hunter also gets a lightweight carbon composite on its exterior, so as to keep overall weight to a minimum.
