Rumours build up on the Stratos rebirth.

As commentator, Free Advice, observed in the comments to yesterday's story, there is a possible tie-in with the Fenomenon Stratos 2005 edition , created and Stratos lover, Christian Hrabalek in the 2005 Geneva auto show. Though the concept car which rolled out in 2005 had very little in resemblance to the car in the recent 'spy' photos, it is tipped to be a spiritual predecessor of the car spotted at the Balucco facility of Fiat, and Hrabalek is suspected to be the man behind this new project as well.
Though the new car differs totally from the Fenomenon concept, as it is rumored to run on the Ferrari F430, or even better, the 430 Scuderia platform, it is expected to be the predecessor of the 2005 version. The new Stratos is however in all its intention, tipped to be a one-off , and hence, the use of an older platform as mentioned above makes total sense. The F430 is definitely a very competitive base for any project as well.
Carbon fiber bodied, and designed by either Bertone or Pininfarina (rumors also suggest a version which involves both!), the new Stratos is not just going to be a re-imagination, but a fully functional full-on performance car worthy to carry with itself, the Stratos tag. The project cost is expected to have crossed 1 million Euros.
Fiat is rumored to be providing technical and facility assistance for the production. If the rumors prove true, this could be the glorious comeback of the Stratos.
The car is tipped to be present for the public at the Paris Motor Show.
