Skoda announces record sales worldwide for first half of 2011

The 454,700 vehicles delivered represent a 20.1% increase over the same period in 2010, and is a new record for the Czech brand. Skoda sold 81,300 cars in June 2011 alone, 10,000 more than the same month in 2010, and the fourth consecutive month it has set new record sales this year.
In the UK, Skoda managed to sell 24,000 cars so far, its best ever result in that market, while the company has also managed to expand its market share in Europe by 11.1%. Skoda also did well in emerging markets, selling 112,200 cars in China, and more than 7,000 in Russia, an increase of 33.6%. It also doubled its sales in India to 2,300 cars.
In terms of model breakdown, the Octavia proved to be the most popular, with 34,500 units sold, an increase of 20% over the previous year. The Fabia was the next most popular, selling 24,800 units, up by 17.1%. The Superb sold 13,900 units, a 3.9% improvement, while the Yeti and Roomster shifted 6,300 and 3,300 units respectively, an increase of 23.5% and 4.9%.
