Audi updates the A4 and introduces new allroad variant
Audi has scheduled its 8th generation A4 for a mid-life facelift. Revisions however, are more than skin-deep. New chassis, drivetrain and infotainment solutions are part of the update package.
On the outside, it takes a keen eye to spot the visual differences. The signature day-running LED has been restructured. The front facet now boosts a cleaner and more distinctive look, thanks to more pronounced horizontal lines, more arched bonnet, and dimensional updates to the badge itself.
The interior has also undergone a number of touch-ups, such as chromed frames for control switches, redesigned steering column stalks and ignition keys. New steering wheel designs are also available, including a flat-bottom sports steering wheel.
In the engine bay, a new centrifugal governor in a dual-mass flywheel promises enhanced engine refinement, especially at low revs. And despite higher power and torque figures, fuel consumption has been reduced by 11 per cent.
For the first time, an allroad Quattro variant is available in A4 trim. Four petrol and six diesel engines for the Sedan and Avant are available, and three engines are offered for the allroad Quattro. All engines feature forced induction, direct injection, and comes standard with the start-stop system.
