Fallen branches and uprooted trees block traffic cause damage to three cars
26 Jun 2013|8,243 views
Strong winds, a heavy downpour and a rare shower of hail caused a number of trees along Old Jurong and Bukit Batok roads to be uprooted, with some of the damaged trees causing a massive traffic jam after blocking off a slip road on Bukit Batok Road.
Three cars were also damaged by nature's fury. A Toyota Vios and a Toyota Camry - two of the three damaged cars - were parked at a building's unsheltered carpark on Toh Guan Road East near the Pan Island Expressway (PIE).
Ms Crystal Wong, the owner of the Vios, works in a building near the carpark and was stunned to find a tree on top of her car at about 5:00pm after leaving work. "I don't usually park here. The lots at my office building were all occupied because I was slightly late today," said the 31-year old Project Manager.
On the other hand, the Camry belongs to Lay Auto, which had its roof damaged by an uprooted tree. The situation could have been worse for the firm if staff did not move five other cars from the carpark to the showroom. Similarly, the third car damaged was parked at a carpark in Bukit Batok West Avenue 2.
Thankfully no one was injured in either of the incidents.
