For the second time, BMW Asia and Performance Motors Limited (PML) have announced their vehicle sponsorship for the Global Young Scientists [email protected] 2014 (GYSS 2014). The event runs from the 19th to the 24th of January.

A fleet of 30 BMW 520i has been handed over to representatives of the [email protected] 2014 Organising Committee, and will be used to chauffeur the speakers of GYSS 2014 in comfort.

GYSS 2014 is a gathering of young scientists and researchers (primarily PhD students and post-doctorates) from all over the world, with internationally eminent scientists and technology leaders in Singapore. The summit covers topics ranging from chemistry and physics to medicine and mathematics, among others.

"We wish to thank BMW for providing the official vehicles for this occasion. This sponsorship enables GYSS speakers, who are eminent leaders in science and technology, to undertake their speaking commitments safely and efficiently," said Professor Phua Kok Khoo, the Co-Chair of the GYSS 2014 Organising Committee.

The BMW 5 Series has won a host of awards and comparison tests and earned top marks on quality, safety and value retention. As fitted in the new BMW 520i, the four-cylinder engine develops maximum power of 184bhp and peak torque of 270Nm - available between 1,250rpm and 4,500rpm. Instantaneous power response helps the sedan perform the century sprint in 7.9 seconds and achieves a top speed is 235km/h - despite returning 16.7km/L while emitting 149g/km of CO2.
