Car colours and their representation

Although white hides dirt best, many car owners in Singapore still choose black as the preferred choice of colour for their car.

Although white hides dirt best, many car owners in Singapore still choose black as the preferred choice of colour for their car. In fact, Honda dealer Kah Motor and Audi dealer Premium Automobile have reported that black is still the most popular colour among car buyers.

A black car spells mystery, lustrous and an unassuming character. However, it also means that you have to take good care of it. Scratches and dirt are made more obvious on black than any other colour.

Car buyers are willing to go the extra mile for their preferred choice of colour as they believe it portrays their personality. A cheerful person, for example, may choose a bright colour to represent him.

What floats on your mind when you see a particular colour on a car? Read on to find out™

WhiteResponsible and organized
Black Ambitious, adventurous and accomplished
Silver Accomplished, stylish but can be arrogant
Gray Modest and a careful driver
Red Extrovert, passionate, youthful and needs excitement in life
Blue Outgoing, affectionate but lacks creativity

Do consider how your car colour will go with your wardrobe when selecting a colour for your car. Some colours call for more care than others. Bear this in mind when you choose the colour for your car:

WhiteFuss free and easy to care for
Black High possibility of suffering from sun damage due to the ultraviolet rays
Red High possibility of suffering from sun damage due to the ultraviolet rays
Pearl Difficult to maintain

You should know that the insurance companies do not charge a higher premium on certain colours so you are free to choose the colour you like without constraints. Be warned though. Some red car drivers claim to be pulled over relatively more often for violating traffic rules.

No matter what colour your car is, get rid of bird droppings as soon as you see one. No colour will hide that ugly sight and clear it or live with the remnant of it for some time.

Finally, always keep your car clean and be proud of it regardless of what colour it is. No car will look good if it does not look well kept by its owner.
