  • Transitions® XTRActive® lenses - Added protection

Transitions® XTRActive® Adaptive lenses are perfect for eyeglass wearers who seek everyday eyewear with extra protection from harsh lighting.

An article in The Straits Times highlighted that Singapore has one of the world's highest rates of myopia and Singaporeans spend an estimated $311.5 million on prescription glasses every year. Those of us who have your faces adorned with prescription glasses will understand the inconveniences of having to take them off. When the sun is shining, this can be a problem. We're either blinded by the light or constantly switching between glasses and prescription sunglasses.

Transitions® lenses adapt to help protect your eyes from fatigue and strain caused by UV light and bright glare
If you are not already aware, there is a way around all these inconveniences and the answer lies in Transitions® Adaptive Lenses.

Transitions® lenses adjust to changes in light to optimise eyesight. When you're exposed to ultraviolet light, the lenses darken to protect your eyes from the glare. When you return indoors and at night, the lenses revert back to their original clear state - thus providing a solution we like to term as the best of all worlds.

    An easy all-weather solution

Wherever you go, Transitions® XTRActive® lenses are always working to protect your eyes from the brightest sun and harsh artificial light. These are the perfect lenses for eyeglass wearers who seek everyday eyewears that provide extra protection from light outdoors, indoors, and even in the car.

Transitions® XTRActive® lenses deliver superior darkness outdoors and are the darkest Transitions®lenses available. They are designed for wearers who prefer a slight tint indoors and very dark lenses outdoors. Thelenses adapt to help protect your eyes from fatigue and strain caused by UV light and bright glare outdoors and even activate behind car windscreens with its different formulation of photochromic dyes.

These lenses aren't just the perfect all-rounded solution for people who spend more time outdoors and in their cars. With Transitions® lenses, people who live in warmer climates will enjoy superior darker everyday adaptive lens outdoors while maintaining a comfortable hint of tint indoors. More importantly, they are the saving grace for those who are especially light sensitive or concerned about eye health.

A key benefit for drivers is that the lenses have an average darkness of 53 percent and can achieve up to Category 2 darkness (Category 2 darkness is defined as a range between 57 percent and 82 percent tint) behind the windshield to protect eyes from sunlight while driving. They are made using a different formulation of photochromic dyes that features a broad spectrum dye - specially designed to react to both UV and visible light for extra darkness outdoors, even in hot temperatures.

Glare protection and optimal comfort are ensured in all outdoor situations and temperatures
Not only that, the XTRActive® lenses optimise the amount of light that reaches your eyes, going beyond vision correction for more effortless sight. The lenses are also are able to block 100 percent of the sun's UV rays, offering comprehensive protection for your eyes especially when you are outdoors for long periods of time.

Even for times spent indoors, they provide a comfortable hint of tint to shield the eyes from harsh indoor lighting while providing a good level of clarity.

    A more comfortable driving experience

I have always sworn by contact lenses because they were seemingly the more convenient choice before Transitions® lenses came about (and also because I am vain as hell) but contact lenses can also get extremely dry and uncomfortable if you are constantly driving with the air-conditioning on - and given our climate, you definitely have to.

Since I started using the Transitions® XTRActive® lenses, I began to appreciate the convenience it delivered - one pair of prescription glasses for any time of the day and any activity. On top of that, the XTRActive® lenses are available for most frame and prescription types to suit your personal preferences!
