Work has commenced on the new Jurong Region Line, which is set to get 24 stations, span 24km and open in three stages from 2027 to 2029.
Four contracts worth a total of $682.5 million for the Jurong Region Line have been awarded by the Land Transport Authority.
The LTA has awarded three contracts worth $596 million for design and construction work on four Jurong Region Line stations.
The future Jurong Region Line will use specially-designed carriages, which are smaller in size than those found on other MRT lines.
The Jurong Region Line, Singapore's seventh MRT line, will have 24 stations and open in three phases starting from 2026.
