Alpine has announced that it will reveal a new A290 'beta' show car that foreshadows a future all-electric hot hatch from the brand.
The car will make its debut in Bristol, U.K., at 4:30am Singapore time come 10 May 2023, presented by Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi and Alpine Design Director, Antony Villain. The event will be streamed live, and you can watch it here.
Alpine states that it is using the 'Beta' name here to deonte that the model is a test version ahead of the final production version of the car Alpine states that the new show car retains its tradition of naming cars with the letter 'A' followed with three digits. However, from here on, the first number in the name of its cars will refer to the size of the vehicle, while for the next two numbers, '90' will be specific to its multi-purpose sports vehicles.
Its purely sports vehicles will retain the use of the number '10' for their last two digits. The use of the 'Beta' here has been adopted from the world of software, used to denote this model as a test version right before the final production version of the model.
Alpine further states that from 28 to 30 April 2023, members of the public will have a chance to win an invitation to the presentation of this electric hatch. To win an invitation, they will have to capture the QR code on the Formula One Alpine A523s running on the Baku City Circuit in Azerbaijan, and also on the A470s during the Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
