The A1 Black Edition is available with either a 1.4-litre TFSI petrol engine with 185bhp, or an all-new 2.0-litre TDI turbo diesel with 143bhp. It is based on the S Line trim level, and comes with additional features like a black styling treatment for the grille surround and number plate holder, dark tinted rear windows, 18-inch alloys and Xenon Plus headlights with LED daytime-running lights. The interior’s standard equipment has also been boosted with full electronic climate control and the Audi Sound System speaker upgrade with 180 watts of output.
The A1 Contrast Edition, meanwhile, can be matched with all engines in the A1 range except for the 1.4-litre TFSI 185bhp version, and comes with a contrasting colour for the roof line and the new aero package, plus larger 17-inch alloy wheels. As an option, Audi also offers a double-blade roof spoiler, also in a contrasting shade.
Audi has also released details of the new 2.0-litre TDI turbo diesel engine for the A1, and says that the unit produces 143bhp and 320Nm of torque. When mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox, it allows the A1 to go from 0-100km/h in 8.2 seconds, and hit a top speed of 217km/h.
The Audi A1 Black Edition and Contrast Edition versions joins the standard Audi A1 range in the UK, and Audi has also announced that it will offer a new 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that complements the existing 1.6-litre TDI unit in the A1.
