The S5’s previous 4.2-litre V8 engine, which produced 354bhp and 440Nm of torque, will be replaced by a new 3.0-litre V6 following the facelift announcement. The same engine will also be used on the S5 Convertible and S5 Sportback models.
The new 3.0-litre TSI engine produces 333bhp and 440Nm of torque, which enables the car to go from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the previous version. Top speed is electronically-limited to 250km/h. Audi says that the new engine is not only offers improved performance over the naturally aspirated V8 unit, but also consumes on about 20 per cent less fuel.
Audi has also updated the S5’s Quattro all-wheel drive system with the crown-gear centre differential and electromechanical power steering, while visual changes include the new front lights, modified body details and new crystal-effect paint finishes externally, and refreshed trim and material options for the interior.
