Audi Singapore is gearing up for its Formula One debut in Singapore for the 2026 season with a host of launches to keep local fans on their toes, and kicking things off is the RS5 model, the marque's first high-performance plug-in hybrid that made its local public debut in at the "Off the Grid" event by both Adidas and Audi at Funan Mall.
Available in both Sedan and Avant body styles, there is very little discernible differences between them in terms of features. Both share exterior mirror housings in black (carbon is available as an option), darkened matrix LED headlights and digital OLED rear lights, and roll on 21-inch Black Metallic Audi Sport wheels (Matt Neodymium Gold is optional).
Exterior-wise, the only things separating both body styles are that the Sedan has a black RS rear spoiler while the Avant has an RS roof edge spoiler, and the RS bumpers plus (an aggressive, honeycomb-style front bumper conversion) is optional for the Sedan while it is standard on the Avant.
And in case you were wondering, both body styles have the same length (4,896mm) and wheelbase (2,903mm), but the Avant is taller by a miniscule 18mm (1,428 vs 1,446). The Avant's kerb weight is also heavier by 15kg (2,355 vs 2,370).
Inside, both body styles offer black cloth headlining, illuminated RS door sill trims, and a three-spoke sport leather steering wheel. Comfort comes in the form of electrically adjustable front S sport seats with massage function (the driver's also gets memory function). The Avant's longer rear also gives it an additional 30 litres of boot space over the Sedan body style (331 vs 361).
In terms of infotainment, the RS5 comes with an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit (what the German marque calls their instrument cluster), a 14.5-inch MMI Touch Display, as well as a 10.9-inch passenger display as standard.
The hardware under both bonnets remains the same. The plug-in hybrid model is powered by a 2.9-litre V6 engine and, when combined with its electric motor, delivers a power output of 630bhp and 825Nm to all wheels. In addition, a century sprint timing of 3.6 seconds ensures it is quick off the mark.
A battery size of 25.9kWh gives the RS5 an all-electric range of up to 84km (on paper) and supports AC charging at a maximum rate of 11kW, allowing for a full recharge in 2.5 hours.
Audi Singapore says that from 1 to 11 October, the RS5 Sedan will be showcased at its House of Progress at 18 Cross Street, while the RS5 Avant will be on display at Funan Mall. In addition, a replica of the R26 race car that will be racing at the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix is also on display at Funan Mall from now till 2 October, and again during the race weekend from 8 to 11 October.
The RS5 Sedan will be available from $713,999, while the RS5 Avant starts from $723,999. Both prices are inclusive of COE.
