BMW Motorrad is bringing all the benefits of head-up technology to the world of motorcycles with its new ConnectedRide Smartglasses.
The innovative motorcycle goggles can project relevant data including navigation information, vehicle speed, and even the gear selected, directly into the rider's field of vision in real time, making riding safer.
The glasses can easily be connected to a smartphone and app, and the projection within the glasses can also be positioned. Additionally, users can select their preferred settings before, or even during the ride via the multicontroller on the motorcycle handlebars.
BMW Motorrad states that users will be able to get up to 10 hours of operation from the ConnectedRide Smartglasses thanks to the use of a lithium-ion battery. The glasses also come with two sets of certified UVA/UVB lenses. The first is 85% transparent and can be used for helmets with integrated sun visors. The second set of lenses are tinted, turning them into a pair of sunglasses. The lenses can additionally be adjusted to the required visual acuity by an optician using an RX adapter for riders who wear prescription glasses.
The BMW ConnectedRide Smartglasses are expected to arrive in the U.S.A later in 2023.
