Bugatti Mistral sets open-top speed record

Bugatti has announced that its W16 engine-powered Mistral has set a new top speed world record for an open-top car.

The car is said to have clocked a speed of 453.91km/h with official Bugatti Test Driver Andy Wallace behind the wheel. The record was set at the track facilities of ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg in Germany, and under the supervision of SGS-TUV Saar, which confirmed the car's official speed

The run is also said to be the first in Bugatti's history wherein the customer of the vehicle was in attendance to witness the record being set. This special owner is said to have wanted to cement to legacy of his collection - already comprising each of the Bugatti record-holding cars that include the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Edition, and Chiron Super Sport 300+.

And following along with the rest of Bugatti's record-setting cars, this Mistral comes with Jet Orange wheels and accents along the lower section of its body, paired with a visible black carbon exterior. The cabin of this car also gets a host of orange-accented features to match its exciting exterior.

Bugatti also offered the customer the opportunity to join Wallace on another high-speed run in the wake of the world record in which the two almost reached the same speed - a feat which Bugatti states was likely to have set an unofficial record for the fastest-ever passenger ride.
