A container truck driver died on Sunday at the Pasir Panjang port after being crushed by the container that his vehicle was carrying. It was understood that the driver was making a U-turn when the container broke free and smashed into the driver's cabin.
Officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force spent an hour to extricate the body and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speaking to reporters from the Straits Times, the sister of the driver said, "We don't know what happened but we know that he had transported containers for over 20 years and was very experienced."
Investigations are ongoing.
