Starting 2026, all newly developed medium and large Mercedes-Benz vans will be based on its VAN.EA platform and come with the latest version of the MB.OS.

Mercedes-Benz is aiming to implement the next stage of its electrification strategy. Starting from 2026, all newly developed medium and large vans from the brand will be based on its VAN.EA (Mercedes-Benz Van Electric Architecture) platform.

VAN.EA provides a clear distinction between privately positioned vans in the luxury segment and commercial vans in the premium segment. In the former, the portfolio ranges from family vans to exclusive VIP shuttles, to luxurious and spacious limousines for consumers with the highest demands.

Concerning pre-installed technologies, the new vans meet a wide range of consumer requirements. All vehicles - whether with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive - will come with the latest version of the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), as well as an 800-volt charging system and a 22kW AC charger.

In June 2024, Mercedes-Benz undertook a long-distance journey from Stuttgart to the North Cape with a specially constructed vehicle, with the emphasis on testing the chassis, electric powertrain, battery and high-voltage components.

Current tests will focus on the interconnection of all components in the overall vehicle, and future cold testing will begin in Sweden during winter.
