Binz specializes in converting Mercedes vehicles namely the E-Class wagon and the Vito van to hearses, and first announced the Xtend, back at the Essen Motor Show in 2010. The extended wagon stands at a near 5.8 metres, where an average hearse is around 5.9 metres.
The Xtend – which is not a hearse, stretches the chassis between the rear doors and the rear axle by 31.7 inches. Binz will offer the Xtend wagon with stock engines, ranging from 240bhp E250 CDI diesel, to the 388bhp E500 V8.
On top of the extended wheelbase, a special-edition X-Orange is also offered, containing racing seats with four-point harnesses and a body covered in near blinding bright orange and judging from interior shots it might be limited to 864 units.
Though pricing is not available for the X-Orange, a standard Xtend fetches around €80,000 (S$123,854).
